This gets interesting as time goes on. The one shop close by I had do my first oil change at 1210 miles a few days ago. They were going to take pictures of the windshield and have Chrysler advise them how to proceed. Then when my truck was done with the oil change, one of the service advisors said that their service manager said they don't have a body shop there and that I need to take it to a bigger dealer with a body shop! Sounds like they don't want to be bothered. I am not impressed... This was at Cumberland CDJR in Cookeville, TN.For my money and peace of mind, I would take it to a local mom and pop shop that's been doing this for many years and have him refit it....
How many window resets do you think the dealer's tech has performed?
Just a couple of cents....
I called the dealer where I bought it that is 1.5 hours away and the service advisor just laughed when I told him what they said. He said every dealer should and knows to call in a glass company and get it fixed and then it gets billed as a warranty repair. He said bring it in and we will get the glass company to repair it today, Tuesday. It is now at the selling dealer and I am back home waiting for a call when the mobile glass company gets it repaired, hopefully today. Kudos to Mount Juliet CDJR for being responsible and helping me get this resolved soon, hopefully today.
And yes Paul, I would not want a regular service tech trying to repair it either. I am comfortable though with a glass company that goes to local dealerships that is experienced in windshield repairs!
