Bought a new 22’ Mojave early June when it got assigned to a local dealer. Came in and purchased on 6/27/22. Within first week and 300 miles I was at a stoplight and accelerated up a small hill and engine went high RPM’s I immediately took foot of gas. Started to idle super rough at next stop just over bridge. Put in Park and still rough idle NO warning lights. Put it back in drive to get to safe parking area. Engine did auto off and when it started back it was fine. Pulled over in parking lot restarted no warnings lights, everything running as normal. No issues next 2-3 days. Then leaving neighborhood a warning light flashed after leaving stop sign. I couldn’t feel anything driving it. Light went off in under 30-40 seconds. 3-4 more days driving no issues or lights. Then yesterday son calls and says check engine came on flashing and then stayed on.

Callled service department and got it there last night for appt today. Service person ran check real quick when I arrived and got P0600 error ???. She said I was the third person in a couple of weeks to have the issue. Said the others just had to update the PCM software and it was fixed. Was VERY hopeful it would work. Came to the forum and researched and started to get sick at my stomach. Called today at 2pm after not hearing anything.

She said vehicle had been Starred and they had called Jeep home office after a substantial amount of metal shavings in the oil….??…?….?! So needless to say I will be calling general manager Monday when he gets back from vacation to discuss how to return. I realize it MAY be able to be repaired but shavings all through oil pain with less than 1K miles I don't want it. I would be constantly wondering WHEN the next issue would arrive.

Asked service advisor if I just got the unlucky lemon and she went silent. Said they had already heard from corporate, sent photos, was asked to do some other testing and sending more photos and waiting to hear back from that. Asked how long to go through everything and she had no idea how many days/weeks it might take. I really like it better than the Tacoma, but damn this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This was my third Jeep, and had never had any really big issues with the other two Wranglers. I want to order another one, but not feeling so good at the moment.

I don't think you can just return it. Unless your state has a cooling off period, you have to give them a chance to repair it

My condolences on getting a lemon of a engine, follow your instincts. If it's telling you to dump it do. Many people have had nothing but good luck with whatever vehicle they choose and don't reply or start threads on that but the statistical few that have less than stellar or okay vehicle start the complaint threads.
