Just bought my 2026 Mojave x gladiator last weekend. It’s been. Sitting most of the week while I added about $1500 worth of aftermarket parts
test drive mile 4-14
dealer fixed paint issue, fill with gas, service prep. mile 14-29
drive home mile 29-40
currently sitting at 40 miles.
went to back out and it died in reverse. Struggled to restart, drive back into garage and parked.
Strong fuel smell. Found puddle on floor below filler neck area
turns out it was leaking from the vent tube connection
.
after some troubleshooting it seems like vent tube and vent were assembled incorrectly.
The vent tube was loose at the tank side and tight at the vent side. Flipped the rubber tube around and it seemed to stop leaking. It still struggled to start a few times and then seems ok now.
just curious if anyone has had similar issues. I’ve owned a TJ for years so I’m pretty good at finding issues. Thankfully haven’t yet had any issues with my 2018 JL other than the VVL seals seeping oil that I still need to fix
curious if anyone has had a similar issue with a new jl or j? picture attached for reference. The rubber tube is what I flipped around.
i can only assume these come assembled either as part of the filler assembly or entire fuel tank. This leads me to believe it will be a common issue that occurs outside of factory at part source.
