I will suggest one thing this type has going for it - more universal fit.
I say that because I have discovered over the last few months - I ain't the only one battling Jeep's inconsistent tolerances in construction. I've found out some others are having severe fit issues like mine. How do we know it's the fault of Jeep?
Because we've tried my tops on other vehicles and they usually fit perfectly. And - there are others in another state going through this.
I often wonder if the JT and JL tops may be however so slightly different, that said, if you receive the wrong one, will it cause you the issues you are having. Just a thought!

3 tops, no joy. Bestop got their hands on my original and said it fit their jig and another jeep fine.

That sounds suspect to me! But, did you get yours straightened out? I've been in and out of the Hospital, so not on much.

No. They are still "working on it" as far as figuring it out

My concern with anything rolling is those outer edges loosing their ability to be seated properly against the door when in a closed position. I looked at a used gladiator with the soft rolling tonneau and you could tell it didnt seat properly and looked horrible.

Then that one had problems, or had been left rolled up in the heat or something.
I've had 3 JTs with that soft roll-up cover and they have always held up perfectly fine, and seal well ever in car washes.
If not abused, the MOPAR roll-up tonneau covers last for years.
I'd say - don't judge them all by one bad cover.

My initial thought was "vastly inferior, must be notably cheaper"

So i looked it up. sunrider is a grand today (inflation... got mine for $770), rolltop is $750... OUCH.

For anyone considering this thing, trust me the extra $250 is absolutely worth it. I can open and close my sunrider without ever leaving my driver's seat. Not to mention it can be easily opened and closed while driving up to 30mph.
thats rough.

I don't understand why they haven't come out with one that folds back like an accordion,
you know like the one touch sky top, just manual and not push button.

I could probably come up with 3 or 4 reasons............
Harder to seal - leak prone unless you did just what Jeep did on the skyview or whatever (we purposely avoided those things when looking - I saw too many potential issues and found people who had quite a bit of trouble with 'em)
need very flexible material, and you'd need to have it in a track to get it to fold that way.
More expensive to make.

Some valid reasons, however, I have seen the mass pay astronomical prices for other upgraded parts that I will not pay. And seeing as how the sunrider is now over 1k, I don't think ill
Be getting one anytime soon.
