Hey everyone,

I’m going bonkers. I just bought my Gladiator Sport Hardtop. I had a three hour drive home from the dealership and noticed a whistle when I rolled a window down. It starts at about 45mph and gets louder at 50-55mph.
It will do it with two windows down, or a combo of front and back window down, etc. It stops when you open the slider, OR when all windows are up.
It seems to be coming from the back. The slider was my first instinct.
Tonight, I taped up the inside of the slider and the outside. Then the front corner piece by the mirror like I read in some posts. Then the right rear window outside. Then the seams of the roof. Nothing. I’m going batty.

it definitely seems to be coming from the back half of the truck. Any ideas?

Uh

Air pressure hitting the back window will cause that....there is nothing wrong if this only happens with windows down.

Hmm. Not sure I buy this. No offense, I just can't imagine that a wicked wind whistle is was factored in as just Jeep character.

Not necessarily a jeep characteristic. Only reason i stated that was I get a whistle if i have one or two of the windows partially down. This has also happened on previous trucks i've had. once I have all of the windows at least half way down it goes away. Try that and see if it does anything.

If not, then I got nothing for you unfortunately. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

I did some more highly scientific experimenting. ;)It’s not the slider window and it doesn’t matter what combo of windows is down.

it’s somewhere else. Must be a roof gasket somewhere.

Do you happen to have a water leak from the rear of the hardtop?

Err..do you have a hard top or soft top lol. I have seen a few people with the water leak on the hardtop say there was wind noise.

Other than that...i got nothing lol

Haven't noticed one yet. I was thinking maybe I'd loosen the hard top, reseat it and tighten it back down.

I think that is probably a good start. My hardtop doesn’t make any whistling noise that is mentionable/noticeable. Would be interested in knowing what you find.

YO! I solved the mystery!!! I had removed one of my back seats, and the bolt holes actually go all the way through...you can see the ground. With the windows open, air gets sucked through the bolt hole closest to the door. I put the bolt back in and problem solved! I’m so happy!
