I could use some advice from the Brain Trust here. My new 25 Mojave game with the HomeLink buttons on the visor, my wife's 24 Wrangler did not. She's asking me to add the visor. I reached out to Benny and got the right part number, which of course is a new visor and about 3 times the price of previous ones. I don't know what the difference is, but I'd rather not gamble with one that doesn't fit.

Benny let me know I may not find the wiring up there, however her Jeep does have the illuminated visors so I know there is at least power.

The concern is that these new Jeeps have the air bags in the roll bars, so far all the video's I've found are swapping visors of non-air bag Jeeps.

Should I skip this idea completely? Do I need to disconnect the batteries to work in that area, safely? Any advice is appreciated.

My '24 Sport S did not have the Homelink visor, and I found that the existing body-side wiring for mine only had 2 wires for the mirror light, not 3. So there was no Homelink wire back to the BCM. So I followed this method to modify the replacement visor to get power from the light:

I didn't use a wire nut on the cut wire like that thread - I just wrapped it in electrical tape and then wrapped the whole thing in Tessa tape.

Some people don't like that someone can now use your Homelink garage door opener if your Jeep is unlocked since it doesn't require the vehicle to be turned on. But I always kept my garage door remote in my car anyways, so I don't really see this as an added risk for me. On the plus side, there is no coding/software (JScan or Tazer) changes required with this method.

Oh, and I used part number 7SY00TX7AA for the replacement visor. The wiring is in a different spot to the prior (non-airbag) models. Compare the image in the JL forum above to where the wiring is in the new one:

Any extra bulk you add (wire nut, quick splice connector, etc.) has to fit under the hinge cover. There's not a lot of wire or space to work with there, but I've literally never once in my life cut/spliced wiring in one of my vehicles, and even this noob made it work 😉
