Wondering if anyone has experience with these tires on ice and snow, roads in Anchorage are covered in ice for 90% of winter time, so want to make sure they handle ok.

Have you looked at the Exo Grapplers? They have the Mountain Snowflake and are studable. I’m considering them.

I am running 35x12.5x20 ridge grapplers. I am seriously slobber knocked about how well they have been doing. I live in central IL. We get the blowing snow with a sheet of ice underneath. This week has been snow pack as it is hovering at 0F. It was loke the traction control and stability control was built for them. I puposely try to powerslide the truck with my supercharger installed and the electronics just gather it up and kick it into a strait line and the tires grab and go.

We've had some solid feedback about the Ridge Grapplers in Alaska by a Jeep guy that also puts on events. He did a 5,000 mile drive to Alaska and back and found the tires to do very well in the Alaska area.

Good to know. I was about to no longer consider these because they are not rated for snow/ice. I'm in Michigan and we definitely get snow and ice!

The problem with winter-rated (or not) tires is that it really depends on the type of winter conditions. A particular tire might work great in deep snow or dry snow, but are horrible in slushy snow or icy conditions.

My brand-new KO2s have the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake rating, but on a recent trip over a mountain pass in the snow was sketchy and the tires broke free a lot more than I expected they would given the reviews and severe snow service rating (and I drive like an old man when the conditions dictate). Maybe my expectations are just higher than they should be, but my dedicated winter tires on my Audi stick like glue in any snow/ice/wet condition so far.

I just wish tire manufacturers made a 37" true winter tire that I could swap out in the colder months on the Jeep.

I have been running 37" Ridge grapplers for 60K miles and they have been great tires, but Nashville doesn't have the long season of weather like you do in Anchorage. I think if I lived up there I'd look into a more dedicated winter tire or tires that were studded.
