Yup - worked hard, saved money, invested, retired early and now run my own shop doing restoration work for some award winning auto restoration shops around the country. Go out to FB, some of the auto sites and you'll find more info.
Currently I'm waiting for parts in the cleaning tank for plating, and paint to dry on some other parts so I can stamp build dates on them.

Don't know why that's funny to you....... I guess you'd really laugh if my oldest son makes his retirement goal of 50. (I think he could, actually, his wife owns multiple schools and finished up a book deal) You'd find that hilarious, I guess.

Time to turn off the tank heaters......... haven't automated those, yet.
I’m just giving you a hard time, no harm no foul, buddy

What I don’t understand is why wouldn’t they all participate if they get reimbursed anyway?
Excellent question!
And one I even threw at a local dealer - I suggested that it was like a coupon at the grocery store only better as all they had to do was enter the number. Not a lot of work to it. They get that money.
My guess is that if that control number gets you, the customer, $2,000 off (just tossing a round number out) then the dealer enters that control number and gets $2,000 back.
Maybe a real FCA sales person can comment, but it would seem that simple. No dealership wants to lose money and even Gupton, Motor Inn and others that accept those numbers aren't out to lose money so they obviously get something back.
Do they have to sell so many a month? Do they have to jump other hoops?

Breathe man... breathe... :)
I took it as you just seem to have a lot more time to look at the fine details than the rest of us - Which is a GOOD quality!!!! I WISH I had time to look at all the fine print and details - maybe I'd be further along in life ?

Ok now I'm confused, not that uncommon I guess. I got affiliate pricing when I ordered my 22 in Jan and the dealership took care of everything all I had to do was give them a paystub

You’re good. That’s Affiliate Pricing. Most of the confusion revolves around the Tread Lightly membership and the two numbers you get with that.

That's proof of employment with affiliate. That's good. There are various ways to get the affiliate discount.

The control number being good for the calendar year makes sense. That would explain everyone having different experiences with them. The one I generated this month has an expiration date in January of next year.

Regardless, I used my control number to order my Sport with max tow yesterday. I'd like to have gotten more than 1% below invoice, but since there's only 1 Jeep dealership within 260 miles, there's not much competition or leverage. So I'm very thankful for Tread Lightly. They were originally quoting me 8% ABOVE MSRP!

From my experience shopping around pre-COVID market, the few dealerships that would not do affiliated pricing were usually full MSRP+ selling dealerships with addendum bullshit packages. Accepting Affiliate Control numbers forces them to actually have a selling price 1% below invoice.

If the same dealerships would accept it, usually was for only a custom order that would never go into inventory. There is a cost to dealerships that put vehicles into on lot inventory vs. a direct to customer order that arrives and delivery is taken on spot and never got into the lot inventory

Lastly, I think it boils down for a few dealerships that do not take it, the dealership losses some control of the sales process when a potential buyer comes in with a control number and they do not like that no matter how trivial.

Man, does that pic bring back memories! That could be a friend I knew back in the 70s. (I actually had two)
That's the same color as my HS buddy's Rambler. He also had a Marlin - which in later years turned into about 6 Marlins he liked them so much.

My 68 Javelin had the 232 and vacuum wipers - they did fine, no troubles.

I trashed 3 transmissions racing my 64. (unofficially racing........ the local police and magistrate knew me by name)

I had the 64, then later talked a customer into selling me his 68 Javelin, I sold the 64, then bought the boss's shop Ambassador thinking I'd put the 343 form the Ambo in the Javelin but found that was a huge hassle due to cross member and other differences (and I got into college then, no more time for fun). For a while I had 2 cars - and a 67 Chevy truck.
I sold the Ambassador real cheap to a guy who was without decent income and in desperate need of a car for a new family. I decided I'd give myself a graduation present after college and bought a new 77 Hornet AMX, sold my Javelin to my little brother (for 200, he later sold it to a collector for 1,000 after he did a custom paint job on it)
Then after college I married a girl who had a 75 Gremlin. It went on from there - to new 84 Eagle, Jeep Comanche.............. and here I am.
My family was real fans of Rambler/AMC products. Vehicle history is as such:

'59 Rambler American
'60 Rambler Cross Country Wagon
'64 Rambler Classic 770 sedan (my first car)
'65 Rambler Ambassador 880 Wagon
'66 Ambassador 990 Sedan (Rambler name no longer on car-Dad purchased new)
'70 AMC Rebel SST Wagon
'70 AMC Ambassador SST (Dad purchased new)
'73 AMC Ambassador Brougham Wagon (with woodgrain-Dad purchased new)

Most vehicles purchased from Grand Rambler in St. Paul, MN.
