wow, what a beautiful rig, thank you so very much for your purchase and for sharing.

No specific TQ spec. Nice and tight but not too tight.

on the outer M6 bolts on the side, what is too tight?

- tightening to the point where it is starting to damage the finish by digging into it

- starting to deform the screw heads, which have gone through a special hardening process.

These are engineered in a way that you don’t need to get ballistic tightening them and they should stay nice and tight for a long time.

Just to clarify, the side screws aren’t what’s holding all the weight. The tongue-and-groove design does the heavy lifting. The screws are there to lock everything together and ensure long-term stability. The screws play a supportive, not primary, role.

We have been there with our Gladiator in the past.

We punished our prototype Cross Terrain Steps during the development process, as well as lots of family duty. But it’s really cool to see them getting some use outside the mall!!
