Hey forum, let's discuss!

What off-road event have you actually been to that’s worth it? Or maybe… one that didn’t live up to the hype?

Big expos, local club meetups, weekend trail runs, overlanding gatherings — it all counts.

Got something to share?
Photos, videos, or just your thoughts — all welcome. Share whatever feels useful or real, and post on Wolfbox Community.

It could be:
  • The vibe or atmosphere
  • A moment you still remember
  • A lesson learned
  • A packing list win (or fail)
  • Something first-timers should know
  • Or just your honest take
On March 30, we’ll pick a few standout posts to receive a limited Wolfbox x EJS Swag Pack, shipped to your door.

I am a big fan of the Jeepin with Sheriff Judd event in Florida. It's just a fun simple event with great trails. Not an easy feat given Floridas not really great offroad landscape. The event is just really about riding trails with something for everyone at all levels and supports a great charity!! The trail guides are just normal everyday Jeepers from the Orlando Jeep Club who want you to have a great time and are not pretentious A-holes like I have seen at other events. The process for getting out on the trails is very organized and you can easily get in 3-4 trails in a day. The vendor area has become a bit of a letdown over the past few years but with Jeep Beach just around the corner you can get your vendor fix there and stay focused on trails at JWJ. I would say the combo of Judd and Jeep Beach is the perfect way to hit some trails and figure out what your rig needs to perform better and then go visit some vendors a couple of month later at JB to get it all sorted out. If you live in the Southeast and havent been to JWJ, I would plan to attend in the future.

UTI Orlando hosted monthly car shows and an annual HUGE car show where people from all over flocked to not only show their builds (or progress) but see the builds and vehicles you may never see elsewhere. The year I attended they were giving away a Gulf liveried Focus RS and Ford GT, at not cost. They had mini drift RCs for kids/adults to try their hand at the wheel, food, a 2JZ powered R33 GT-R, a supercharged 3UZFE powered 300ZX, and much more.

In the past there was a local rally event I would attend, made friends with the host/family, they had 2 Lancia Delta HF's just chilling in the barn, and if he liked you, he'd start one up and activate launch control...wicked sounds! It was on a plot of farm land they would plow up for the races, entry was under $40 for drivers, and free to watch. Funniest thing, I lived near that "track" as a kid and never knew about it until I met his daughter at the auto parts store getting something for our rally cars, who then invited me to see their cars in the barn.

There's another local hill climb at Tug Hill, I'll just suggest you watch some of the videos, they will say more than I'm willing to type. It's WILD is all I can say!

Events are worth it. I don’t like ones that you’re forced to pay for to participate but as long as the fee is nominal and there’s some SWAG included I don’t mind too much. I have gone to Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari (TDS) a few times. And SuperStition Mountain days as well. It’s good to get some face to face with different vendors and actually see the products they have.

Many moons ago I actually won a RubiCrawler with install at TDS for my LJ at the raffle. I did spend about $100 on tickets but the payoff was worth many times that. I want another one for my current Jeep as well I loved that thing so much

You can really broaden your knowledge by attending these shows. We have gone twice to the Off-Road Expo in Pomona. There is usually some special pricing at these shows. Picked up some nice traction boards for over a $50 discount. Also talked to the guys from Progressive Suspension, they had a cut-away of their shock absorber with their patented floating o-ring valving system on display. Very impressive technology, I bought a set at a nice discount for our daughter and son-in-law's JK. We recently went to the Off-Road show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, I was hoping to see some examples of battery power stations, but I did not see any displays for them. They did have some pretty amazing camping options on display and I was able to purchase a strong magnetic mount for my cell phone that works well with my overhead console/rack in our Gladiator. It is nice to be able to meet some of the folks that you see on youtube from various manufacturers. Tierra Del Sol's Desert Safari is coming up soon, seems like there will be more vendors there this year. And it is cool to put your rig up on MetalCloak's RTI index trailer. Lets you see if you have any clearance issues at full flex.

Absolutely worth the time. I like to look around at the vendors but spend most of my time in Jeep parking looking at what others have done.

EJS, although its appeal has diminished. We'll be there this year, it's a social media thing for the wife but in our opinion, Moab has become more commercialized than we like. Plan is to be in Utah this year for 3-4 months but have only set aside 2 weeks near Moab. Beyond that following a few of the larger Overland Expos.

Easter Jeep Safari is always on our list every year! We typically host a Customer Trail Ride Experience that week and have a great time with everyone in Moab.

Given that I'm in the central part of the country (Iowa), Moore Expo is something relatively close, and then I try to get to Overland Expo Mountain West every other year.

We have been to the Bantam Jeep Festival near Butler PA a few times. It is fun.
It has vendors to browse, and trails to run your Jeep on. Nothing crazy, but enough to be fun.
Very relaxed atmosphere.
And you can see where the Jeep started (hint, not Willys)

I have always wanted to attend one, just have had issues with having the time available as there always seems to be something else going on. The ability to look at other builds and see the quality of items would be huge. Most good vendors are all online or far away, being able to see one in person, talk through options and get a better feel would be huge.
