Off road plus in 4hi shuts off all the traction control, gives you a simulated locked rear diff and increases the throttle response.

in 4lo in reduces throttle response and keeps the gears longer.

I used off road plus a few weeks ago at Rausch Creek on a few very rocky sections and it really slowed the Jeep down to a crawl without me having to hit the brakes

I hear lots of grinding when I switch it on, wonder if it’s brake throttle modulation I’m hearing

Anyone know what benefits it provides in a manual trans rubicon? Everything mentions so far seems to focus on shift points and traction control

My only complaint is from the factory, the lockers can only be engaged in 4LO but with a TaZer JL Mini you unlock this to allow locking the rear lockers in 2HI and both the rear and the front and rear lockers in 4HI
Sounds like you're speaking from experience... If so:

These features are only available if you keep the TaZer Mini connected right? Have you run into any problems with hitting it with your leg? I'm especially worried since I opted for the manual.

The throttle response is noticeably quicker, plus it automatically turns traction control off if you choose that option on the head unit. Beyond that I'm still learning the finer details, but I almost always reach for the button when I go into 4H now.

Yes you need to keep it plugged in and no it doesn't hang down below the dash, I plugged it in and it sort of sits on the ledge behind the lower dash fascia.

That is the SSC system which is a different button. That grinding noise is brake modulation and this is also a great off-road system that everyone should learn and practice with. It has gotten me out of a couple of sticky situations. It makes me look like I know what I am doing off-road.
