Diesel is a blast to drive compared to the 3.6.I’ve narrowed the list down to a new yet unsold 2023 Willy’s ecodiesel, lots of options (including color matched hardtop, a requirement for me) with a huge discount, or a 2024 Nighthawk. The Nighthawk can be had for several thousand less (nearly $10k less) and non-engine wise I like better—new grille (in a few years won’t look as old for trade/sell, color grille (vs Willy’s black), same rock rails, same payload confirmed by sticker (~1100 lbs), and 6000lbs towing vs 6500. There are also Nighthawks everywhere, whereas I’d have to go several states away for the diesel I found. But, diesel gets terrific mpg with and without towing (ill be towing a 4000 lb boat trailer around New England; not the Rockies but not entirely flat), and I won’t feel bad environmentally with 18mpg without towing and half that when, especially a few years from now when I still have it. So I’m thinking lass chance at the diesel new, better trim and creature comforts inside (msrp $62 vs nighthawk $47, before discounts) make it easier to want to keep driving it longer, and that I won’t hate myself as much if bikini comes out the day later (“well at least it’s a diesel”).
Just feels like there’s a mistake in here buying the pre-refresh for more money.
