Online wheels and tires

Anyone have any advice for/against going with an online tire/wheel package vs a local shop??

I’d say go discount tire They will price match.
Then you get nationwide support/service.

Well, I researched prices and tire specs for a month and finally went with new wheels/tires (all 5 of them) from CustomOffsets.com. My mechanic buddies with local tire accounts couldn’t beat the price I found online. They arrived with free shipping (540lbs) within 10 days and I had zero issues with them.
Nothing against local shops but I have had issues in the past with some of them and the quality of the balancing, etc.
Just my 2 cents....

Actually custom offsets is who I was thinking of going with so that’s good to hear. They supposedly balance before they ship, but I’m assuming I may need an alignment?

You don’t need an alignment when you get new tires and/or rims.

you will need to rotate the tires and have them balanced every 5k miles. Factor in that cost.

thays why I encourage folks to just use discount tire. They will price match and are a vendor here.

PS I get no kickbacks from discount tire. I bought my 35” tires from them. They price matched an online retailer plus another 5% to help offset sales tax I’d have to pay buying local.

Long time Tire Rack customer.

Great prices 20 some odd years ago. Fast forward to 2021, not the value proposition they used to be. But I still got 5 Wheels & Tires from them.

Custom Offsets mounts & balances for free before shipping wheel & tire packages. As for rebalancing after say 5-6K miles, that's up to the customer. But honestly, for the life of the tire I've never had to get wheels & tires rebalanced. And I do my own tire rotation.

I used BBwheelsonline.com for my wheels, Priority Tires for my tires and got a great deal on both!! Of course the tires and wheels are both discontinued now which is why I got such a good deal.

Discount tire +1. Gave us a great price on both the tires and wheels, and rotating, balance, and flat repair at no extra cost, lifetime. And no we did not purchase the road hazard. Way cheaper than Tire rack... and they are local.
