Painting the Gladiator Hard Top

I would like to paint the hard top of my 2021 Jeep Gladiator, to match the body color. I called a few places, and one of them said, they no longer paint Jeep hard tops because of a "special releasing agent" being applied, to the hard top. Also, they said, the paint peels off after about 1 year. Has anyone heard of this? Thanks in advance.

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe put something in the classifieds offering to swap with someone who has a body colored top in your color.

I might offer $1000 plus I will drive to you.

Or something like that.
