Ok,
rather than crawling under my truck and looking, I'm gonna post on the internet...
How's our parking brake work? I've got a 6MT and obviously have to use it a lot... what I'm used to is a manual application of the rear brakes, that stops the wheels from turning at all.
What I've got is acting more like a parking pawl in the transmission... there's a bit of backlash and the truck rolls a slight bit before it stops.
I'm not really worried that its wrong or different from what I'm used to, but what I'm curious about.... does it stop BOTH wheels or does it just stop the driveline?
If I've got one wheel up on a jack, I don't want to learn the hard way that the open diff is gonna let the truck roll...

I’m not able to look under my gladiator at the moment, but I know what you mean about it feels like it still rolls a bit before it catches. Also there are a lot of hills in my area of East Tennessee and my TJs I’ve owned in the past if I came to a stop sign or whatever while on those hills I would cheat and use the emergency brake with my hand to help me get them going without rolling back on tailgaters behind me but when I’ve tried it with the gladiator it just feels totally different. I did a quick google search and it shows traditional brake drum type shoes that grab the inside hub of the discs so I’m guessing it is a mechanical set up not a pawl/gear setup
