I just installed a passive entry system for my Sport S. Does anyone know how to program it to work? The dealers do not seem to know!

I believe the dealer needs to add the code for it, from AllMoparParts:
  • Programming of the passive entry sales code GXD will be required via a 3rd party programmer such as the Tazer JL found here.
As mentioned above, you can either buy a Tazer JL or use JScan mobile app + OBD dongle.

Thanks! Do I buy the Tazer and get the code from Jeep?

It can be done with a security bypass cable and OBD reader and some OBD software on your phone. If you search the forums, there are a couple of threads that have the steps for you to DIY.

If you get the Tazer, you don't have to involve the dealer/Jeep. You plug in the device, and enable the function all on your own (I don't have a Tazer, so not sure exactly how).

It seems like you already went to the dealer and inquired about having them add it--the code GXD mentioned is what the dealer would need to add. But it's probably easier/quicker to just to do it yourself.

I think I'm doing a bad job of explaining this... ?

Let me try again. So, since you added the hardware, you need to now tell the computer to enable these features.

The dealer CAN do this via flashing the computer by adding the sales code GXD. YMMV when you go this route--some may do it, some may not. But, if you already went to the dealer, and they didn't know how to flash the needed sales code to your Jeep, probably not worth going back.

Another way to do this is via a Tazer, which allows you to enable this function within the computer. Tazer does a lot of other things, too--I'd suggest checking it out and see if you'd use it for anything else. If not, I would suggest...

Using JScan + OBD reader + SGW cable. This is the cheapest option. More info on JScan can be found here: http://jscan.net/

So the function I need is built into the JScan OBD module?
The function is built into the truck computer. It just needs to be enabled. The dealer can do it. The code referenced is the one their tool uses to know what to enable.

You can do it yourself using a Tazer. It can also be done using a OBD device with a security bypass cable and either the Jscan or AlfaOBD software.

Got it done at the Jeep dealer for $185. I installed the driver’s door harness and they put in the GXD code. All good! Well worth it’
