Im trying to install one of these throttle response controllers due to the fact that the acceleration on JT is horrible and the MPG is horrible in city driving (~12mpg), especially with lift and bigger tires (RC 3.5” + 37” tires ). I have read many posts on how these throttle controllers can increase mpg.

But after reading many posts, I’m debating between Pedal Commander and Banks Pedal Monster, any suggestions ?

I have a Pedal Commander with 35's and a Factory 2" lift and mini tazer lite. Have only owned the Gladiator for 5 weeks now. But I do a lot of small 3 and 4 mile commutes and my gas mileage is indeed horrible because of that. (12mpg) I knew it was going to be bad but not quite this bad. But I'll deal with it.

I have to check the tazer settings as I'm not sure what it's set at from the previous owner so that may help a bit.

A lot of stops along the way and PA not being flat doesn't help either. So playing around with the settings to see what's best. But mpg is killed everytime you have to stop and go again it dips below 5 mpg average until you get moving again.

Was contemplating picking up a used set of Rubicon wheels with the smaller factory tires and looking into other gearing options. But the cost to do the re-gear could be used to pay for the extra gas money needed with the 3.73 stock gears.

As for the Pedal commander I was looking at getting one for my Girlfriends 2022 HIgh Tide wrangler. The Pedal monster is the better choice because there are safety features built into it. Look it up on YouTube. It's just a better product.

I bought the Hike It throttle controller. I think they are offering 40% off now.

I bought the Banks a month after I bought my Mojave no mpg improvement and I knew that, I love the pick up in the motor and I have it paired with a CAI and a Corsa exhaust and around town I average 17 mpg on stock 33's, It's a pleasure vehicle and that's what I bought it for

Had a Pedal Monster in my 2018 RAM 3500 and the Pedal Commander in a 2024 Kia Telluride. Both do what they say but I would side with Banks due to the calibration feature when installing it. The Pedal Commander didnt have that.

I have the Banks and love it. Only downside is it has to stay plugged into the obd2 port and you should unplug it before any service visit at your dealership. But absolutely recommend it.

Neither will help with mpg. 12 mpg is because you’ve taken a brick shaped vehicle (with poor mpg to begin with) and added larger, heavier tires that it has to spin up.

A throttle controller that modifies the input curve of the skinny pedal will either exacerbate the issue or have no effect.

I used the banks controller bcuz of "dead pedal" in my Cummins. I don't really see the Gladiator as having the dead pedal issue so doubtful I will drop the $ on another one. I think its pick up is fine for what it is. Acceleration is good. Amping that up is just gonna make the fuel economy worse. More fun to drive for sure, but worse at the pump.

I had a Pedal Commander years and years ago….. on my previous truck. Long story short….. I bought it to add more throttle response (I have a light foot and the truck transmission shifted better when you have a heavy foot). After a year or so, I ended up just selling it. I learned to press on the pedal harder.

It was OK…….All it does is just increase or decrease the throttle at any given point of the pedal throw.

The only way you’d save gaS (maybe) …..Is if you put it in ECO MODE. Econo mode turns your truck into a big TURD with no GO. It’s probably more useful if you put the truck in ECO MODE before allowing your teenager to borrow the truck on the weekends. ?
