Whiteglad, thank you for your knowledgeable and well reasoned opinion on the clutch issue. It does sound like money and production choices have played a big part in this problem. I'd be happy to pay a bit more for a bit more durability.

Using my clutch to off-road, tow, drive daily and zero issues. I like the manual. The clutch feel or lack there of takes some getting used to but gets better with age. I bought a manual JT 3 weeks ago and it says the clutch recall was completed already before I picked it up.

Ask them what they replaced to remediate the recall issue.

(hint: they didn't replace anything)

Only time will tell if this is actually fixed.
