IF you were just $1000 difference on making a deal and its the vehicle you been wanting that is kind of a no brainer. Would take the deal and just call it a day. That is pocket change in the big picture of the total cost of the vehicle. I am by no means a rich person but I had a budget on my JT purchase. Much like you they would not get to that point and I had been waiting and talking for a year but just said screw it its $1500 and I got them to throw in some other things which they were good with doing. I been happily driving my JT since then and haven't really even thought about it cause I ended up dropping another $5K in it within a month of getting it
I would agree, except that the vehicle in question had items I didn't much want in the first place, driving up the cost. Plus I know I can always order one (which I still may do) at a great price and get exactly what I want. As I like to say: a decision tree has lots of branches!

Just go order one and get it exactly the way you want and priced the you want and be done with it. How long is the wait?

I just bought mine off the floor. It was easier and it pretty much is what I want.

Thanks for the instructions ;).

Looking for a discontinued color. I'll either order one in another color (Sarge or Hydro) or go with another animal altogether.

I'm too old to be futzin' around over a grand. If it's what I want, I get it. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

If you're hung up on not getting what's on the lot but want a Rubicon and can wait then your option is clear.

Life is short. There are way more things to worry about than a car with some stuff you might not like.

Ok yea if there is something you don't want understandable. Best to get what your looking for at the dollars they want to charge. I was lucky I wasn't needing a lot of things.

Man I was dead set on Gobi but when I put a few of the different colors side by side I ended up changing my mind. I had settled in on Crystal Granite but they couldn't find one with the specs I wanted and didn't want to order. Ended up with Sting Grey. Now they didn't have Mojito unfortunately.

Semiconductor shortage forces automobile production cuts TOM KRISHER and MICHAEL LIEDTKE

DETROIT (AP) — A widening global shortage of semiconductors for auto parts is forcing major auto companies to halt or slow vehicle production just as they were recovering from pandemic-related factory shutdowns.

Officials at Volkswagen, Ford, Fiat Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan all say they have been hit by the shortage and been forced to delay production of some models in order to keep other factories running.

“This is absolutely an industry issue,” Toyota spokesman Scott Vazin said in an email Friday. “We are evaluating the supply constraint of semiconductors and developing countermeasures to minimize the impact to production.”

If the chip shortage lasts, production cuts could reduce the inventory of cars, trucks and SUVs for sale in the U.S. and other markets. That comes at a time when the industry was just starting to replenish inventory lost when factories shut down last spring to stop the spread of novel coronavirus.

Toyota was forced to slow production of the full-size Tundra pickup at a factory in San Antonio, Texas. Ford had scheduled down time next week at its Louisville, Kentucky, assembly plant, but moved it ahead to this week. The plant makes the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair small SUVs.

Fiat Chrysler has temporarily car closed factories in Brampton, Ontario, and a small-SUV plant in Toluca, Mexico, while Volkswagen said in December it was facing production slowdowns due to the shortage. Nissan said it has had to adjust production in Japan but hasn’t seen a significant impact so far in the U.S.

Industry officials say semiconductor companies diverted production to consumer electronics during the worst of the COVID-19 slowdown in auto sales last spring. Global automakers were forced to close plants to prevent the spread of the virus. When automakers recovered, there weren’t enough chips.

“There have been warning signs about his for months,” said Kristin Dziczek, vice president of industry at the Center for Automotive Research, an industry think tank.

It takes six to nine months of lead time for the industry to get chips via a complex web of suppliers, Dziczek said. She said she hopes that some of the lead time had passed when the issues began surfacing several months ago, making this a short-term rather than long-term problem. “There’s still some coming through, just not the volumes that they thought there would be,” Dziczek said.

In many cases, automakers have stopped making slower-selling vehicles in order to divert the chips to hotter segments of the market, including pickup trucks and SUVs.

“This will minimize the impact of the current semiconductor shortage while ensuring we maintain production at our other North American plants,” Fiat Chrysler said in a statement.

The auto industry is using more semiconductors than ever before in new vehicles with electronic features such as Bluetooth connectivity and driver assist, navigation and hybrid electric systems. Semiconductors are typically silicon chips that perform control and memory functions in products ranging from computers and cellphones to vehicles and microwave ovens.

Not sure where some have gotten the idea that Jeep expected to/ needs to sell 200k plus Gladiators a year? Right from the start Jeep said production target capacity was 75-100k/year. Pricing is intentionally high compared to others in class because Jeep knows this is a niche product. If they wanted to sell more you would see the kind of mfg rebates you find on Ram trucks etc... My guess is Jeep is quite content with the sales numbers.

Locally it would have been a real challenge to buy the one I wanted had I not gotten mine just before the pandemic. Low dealer inventory here has to be greatly hindering sales, not just of Gladiators but other FCA vehicles as well. Not sure if the low inventories are the result of Covid production issues or gun-shy dealers, either way most lots have been nearly empty for months.

I got mine right in the heat of the pandemic and many of the dealerships had very few sport and sport s at that time and even less with the Max Tow. They had mostly Rubicons and Overlands Red, Black and White. Many were not selling and just sitting on the lots. Tried to get a Rubicon down into my price range but wasn't even close so went back to the Sport S Max Tow. A lot of the dealerships could have sold more but they were playing a lot of silly bait and switch games at that time.

I think that JT sales numbers will grow more as the numbers of them being driven on the road increase. Their marketing just doesn't get it right with regard to the sight of one of these things in person. I was the same way - I didn't take the JT seriously at all until I started seeing a few on the road while we were on vacation. The very evening we returned, on the way home we stopped at the Jeep dealer (literally with all our luggage still in the SUV) and checked out what they had on the lot. The next day I drove mine home.

So assuming no other calamities hit us this year and we don't shut down further, my prediction is that the JT's sales will be better in 2021. I actually believe there will be a snowball effect with JT sales in 2021 now that they're on the road in increasing numbers. There are just too many people coming up to me asking questions and saying that this is exactly what they're looking for for me to believe otherwise.

I have made offers recently on two Rubicons (2020s). Both reasonable offers, both turned down. They're not in too much of a hurry to sell. $1000 and $1700 apart on them. Frustrating.

Pretty much cements my thinking of going with something else, especially with the recent price increases.
I dunno, $1000 difference on a $40,000 truck is 1/40th of a price difference. Tell him you'll take the deal if he'll throw in the coffee cup from his desk.
