Question for those of you already using the Curt Spectrum.
I just installed one in my Gladiator, but right now I do not have a trailer with brakes to test it.
I Just bought a new UTV, and it's overweight for my current trailer that does not have brakes, so I'm shopping for a bigger one.

Anyway, I noticed if I press the manual over-ride (remember, no trailer connected) 2 blue lights illuminate. This happens even when the Jeep is off, and the dash has powered down. Is that normal behavior? I don't want this draining the battery.

There is wire (black, maybe) that is battery power. The controller is always getting 12v power. It only draws power when the brake pedal is pressed. The indicator lights on my controller ate always on when I am driving. LEDs don’t take much power. If you are concerned, disconnect the harness from the controller when you are not hauling a trailer.

My concern wasn't the current draw from the LEDs, it was if the entire controller itself was drawing power all the time, since those lights came on with no trailer, the ignition off, foot off the brake, and just pressing the brake over-ride button.

Interesting that my LEDs are not on all the time while driving, not even with the trailer. Just when pushing the manual brake button, or braking normally with a trailer.

Anyway, I contacted Curt, and they said that what I described is normal, and not to worry.
