I am on the verge of trading in my car on a used Gladiator. I have a couple 21's on my radar but with all of the paint bubbling threads popping up lately I am a bit concerned. Both of the Jeeps have spent their lives in the Springfield, MO area, so not the major salt like up north. They were both built in March 2021 from the VIN info. Both dealers have checked the hinges and do not see any bubbling.

As far as the bubbling, is there any safe route other than stay away from the rust belt?

The 2021 should still have the 5 year corrosion warranty intact. I just picked up a 2021 and I am getting the hood replaced under warranty due to minor bubbling along the edge. This doesn’t fix potential longer term issues but gives you a little runway for peace of mind.

There are Jeeps having paint bubbling issues that are not in the rust belt.
