I am on my second windshield this week! Has anybody had any experience with a the racing optics windshield protectors? I live in New Mexico so not a lot of rain but a lot of sand and rocks.

Interesting idea. I just pay for $0 deductible glass coverage on my insurance. Already got my first new windshield yesterday. :-/

Coincidentally, I was on my way back from a road trip to Santa Fe but the chip happened in Colorado.

Now that's a good idea.
On my other vehicles, when I get a chip I call insurance and they have Safelite come out and fix the chip before it spreads. I pay nothing.
I've not had one yet that went on and broke further - but I know it happens.
Granted, that is on Grand Cherokee, Eagle, Ford, etc. - not a flat JT windshield.

There seems to be something different about the jL/Jt windshield. I just had my JL windshield replaced, no chips just a crack running horizontally. I noticed the replacement windshield had a number 19 whereas the original was 18. Not sure what the number represents?

Maybe a thread discussing replacement windshields with pics of brand info? I haven't replaced the JT windshield so I wont start the conversation.

But I really do think there is something about this particular windshield design enabling unusual cracking.

Check the angle or rake back of the windshield. JT lays back a bit more if I am correct. Not sure on what if anything else being different

Any updates from folks who have used the Racing Optics windshield protector?

Equally important, how does it hold up to regular (once a month??) applications of Rain X on it? Does it stay clear?

TIA!

I have used it. Holds up well for about a year per layer. Problem for me was in New Mexico the sun just melted the 2nd and 3rd layers together both times. Never tried rainx on it. When it only rains a couple times a year no need.

I just ordered after putting my third windshield in my JT. We’ll see how it survives SC.

BTW - RO is currently offering 20% off with coupon code smoky20. And assumption this is based on the Smoky Mountain Invasion being this weekend.

I ordered one last week, and it arrived.

Will take it to a professional shop to have it installed.

Sorry to hear your 2nd and 3rd layer melted together. They seem to have pretty darn good customer service. Have u tried asking them to give you a refund? Or a new one shipped to you?

Good news and bad news I live in Chicago Hopefully they don’t freeze / get stuck together. 😂
