I purchased this off the gentleman who was sent it by mistake from Rampage (instead of the JLU version). I only have one previous experience with a soft top and that was the factory one for my JKU. I can only speculate how it compares to the factory JT soft top, but this definitely seems to fit the description of what I think of as a fair weather top...I don't know that I would be overly confident with it in a heavy rain storm or the car wash for that matter. If you were the kind of person who likes to run a soft top all the time, I am guessing the premium factory top would be a better choice over a frameless design.

The install was pretty tedious and time consuming (the door surrounds alone required nearly 50 screws for assembly). And the rear panels and window were a royal PITA to clip on but that probably had more to do with the fabric needing more stretch. I watched a video of a JLU install and predictably the design and install are basically identical until you get to the rear. Compared to what I remember about my JKU factory soft top install (which was a take off), I hated this about 10 times more.

So what's to like? The look is awesome and the "sunrider" feature works pretty well. I haven't take it on the highway yet, but at speeds up to 50 mph I can barely notice much difference from the hard top in the noise department. The tinted rear window is also a plus. I am not sure how quick or easy it would be to remove the whole top, but between opening the sunrider and unzipping the rear window it might take you 60 seconds. My only concerns would be about durability and how waterproof it is. Compared to my old wrangler, I could seem myself enjoying a soft top a lot more on the JT with the lack of the rear hatch and a million zippers.

I’m still wondering how the previous owner was able to get this top considering I didn’t even see it for sale on the company’s website? But thank you very much for posting pics so I can finally see how it looks. I’m definitely interested! Hopefully we can buy them soon

I was a little apprehensive about buying something that doesn't really exist, but from packaging to instructions (although they could be better) it looks like its ready for market!

Looking at the second pic it looks really thin.
It does, but I'd still run this in the summer, if/when it gets released to everyone. I hope it gets released soon.

As far as I can tell its standard sailcloth. But being frameless it has straps that go around the sound bar and so it really hugs the top of the jeep.

One of the JL users said you could fold the rear forward then the front over it toward the back. Does that work with this one? He said it basically stored the top over the soundbar.

I probably would too. Depending on the cost. And as long as it doesn't leak.

how does it look when its folded all the way back? Is it like the factory one and stay up top "man bun" style?

Haven't tried that yet, waiting for the fabric to stretch and conform a bit before I start taking it off! But I don't see why that wouldn't be the case considering I lifted the whole top onto the jeep basically in that configuration. After the sunrider assembly, the rest of the top attaches with velcro and straps, so remove the velcro and straps and it should be free to fold.

It doesn't fold all the way back like the factory top. The sunrider will retract back over the front seats and as you can see in my third pic it lays pretty flat on top. The back portion should be able to be unclipped and folded forward to be tucked underneath the sunrider over the soundbar as Coachcal was asking about, but I haven't actually tried that yet. In retrospect, I should have tried to simulate that position when I first put it on top of the jeep, but I couldn't think that far ahead and was just trying to finish the install.

I will update later on with a pic that shows the back end folded underneath the sunrider, but I can't say how soon that will be because I am still traumatized from all the failed attempts to install the rear panels and window in the first place lol

I had to make some adjustments to the top today and as suspected you can fold/tuck the back end up under the sunrider so that it all rests over the soundbar (same design as the JL). I don’t know what it would be like to drive like that and it isn’t a super quick procedure because you are practically removing the top, but it’s a possibility!
