I've never had a 'modern' 4x4 and always play around with the rentals I get my hands on. So - time for a rent-a-jeep question. I was monkeying around with a Sport S and in 4-High when I tried going up a steep incline without goosing the gas enough. The jeep started to roll backwards and the dash immediately lit up like a Christmas Tree and the engine cut off. I rolled to a stop, restarted, and climbed right back up the hill.
What happened there? Was it 'bad' for the jeep? In my personal vehicle I would have noticed the loss of inertia, immediately pumped the gas, and crawled right up it. It didn't feel like the Jeep was willing to let me do that. Was this a computer nanny issue, or what?
