Rooftop tent / rack question!

Hey fellas, so I got the itch for a bed rack and rooftop tent. Im going to get a tent tomorrow but havent decided on a rack. Obviously I want a good one, but the friendlier to the budget the better! I saw a few on amazon for 500-600 bucks and was wondering if anyone had used them. I know amazon is usually frowned upon but for the amount of times I plan on using it throughout the year im not too worried. Also, when mounting a rack, do I NEED to have the bed rail system? Because I dont have one on mine, I plan on buying or building one for it, but is it necessary to mount the rack? Also, any pics of your trucks with the tents are welcome for inspiration! I just got the TKAUTO rack from amazon. I had about $300 in giftcards to amazon so it made buying the rack an easy option. While it is budget, the instructions were good, the pieces all fit and the finish was decent. My only complaint is the powdercoat was chipped in a few spots but I am just going to hit it with some spray can bedliner. For what I payed, it made it worth it to be able to mount a RTT. They also sent a lot of spare bolts for future mounting of accessories.

We had that tent model. Any cross bars that will handle the weight will mount it easily. It’s just t tracks and u bolts for the most part.

Check out C6 Outdoors for RTTs. They have a very unique design in that fits on a rack, crossbars, or can be taken off and used on the ground. The platform bolts onto the rack or crossbars and you can assemble the tent on the ground and lift it up and strap it down to the platform. Tent weighs 25 lbs., platform 48 lbs. The nice part about this system is that when you want to go somewhere you simply take the tent off, stake it to the ground and drive off. Also has a 4" memory foam mattress, very comfy. I got one 2 weeks ago and love it.

This is a very large tent, I have one and we mounted it on a trailer that we pull behind the Gladiator. It is 12" longer than the Gladiator bed, I would not skimp on the rack.
