FYI! Not new to jeeps, but new to tonneau covers, and just installed the Rugged Ridge Armis Retractable locking bed cover. Really like it a lot. But in doing the install I could not find any videos on it. The only ones I found were on the Roll-N-Lock M-series bed cover. Guess what I found out when I opened the box and did the install. The Rugged Ridge Armis is the Roll-N-Lock M series cover! They are exactly the same units! Look, function, install, and hardware all the same. Only difference is the badging on the units.

I really like to unit, but was just surprised by what looks like Rugged Ridge rebranding an older Roll-N-Lock model. I should of did more research, but I was thinking that since Rugged Ridge was more of a Jeep supplier that the cover was more "Jeep". While Roll-N-Lock was more "Truck". That is why I went with Rugged Ridge. But with hindsight what it is, I would of just went with the current Roll-N-Lock model for a little more money than getting a "Jeep" model and stick with the original manufacturer.

Hope this helps out someone else in making a choice.

Hi,
how’s the bed cover working out for you? does the unit take up enuf space to interfere with bed use?
how does the lock interface with the Jeep? does it protrude into the tailgate?
strength against a sledge hammer or wrench whack or crowbar :)?
shopping for cover for new Texas Trail—more research=more confused rather than less.
thnks

I bought this and will install once my Gladiator arrives this week or next (dealer and Jeep chat say it’s in shipping). I don’t need a bed rack, but it would be interesting if someone knew of a t-channel add-on that would enable this cover to support that.

Cover works great form me. I just had a little difficulty in adjusting it, both width and length. I had to use all of the shims provided as the cover was not staying locked if I hid a bump. It would pop open. But the shims worked and it stays locked now. the canister takes up some room, but I don;t haul big stuff anyway. I wanted something to keep things covered and safe. It does not protrude into the tailgate. You adjust the length by moving the canister more or less cab side. I did have to remove the bedrug tailgate mat that I had.

It cover is strong but I don't think sledge or crow bar strong. I have not tried to pry it open.

I do recommend the unit, but like in my original post, i would of gone with the Roll-N-Lock current model and not the Rugged Ridge brand!

Just a little clarification, semi-recently Truck Hero bought both Rugged Ridge and Roll N Lock. Their respective brandings are interchangeable now, same with the "Swing Case" that you can get for basically every brand/model of truck. Rugged Ridge calls it the "Armis" series but they're all owned by the same company.

Then Lund would be included too. The swing cases I ordered from RR shipped direct from Lund in RR packaging.

@am1978

That's correct, the link I provided identifies all of their new acquisitions.

Does this unit require manually locking even when fully extended and tailgate closed? Or can it only be retracted by accessing something under the cover (which would not be exposed if the tailgate is locked)?

Installed mine, no shims or anything, works well. I only wish there was a t-channel on the rails. Anyone thought of/experimented with screwing on a t-channel or would that not be very strong? I want a bike rack up top.

thanks so much for this info! Can you tell me more about the width fitment? Would you say the cover is a little too wide or too narrow? Do you think there’s a 1/4 inch tolerance on each side? I’m trying to figure out if it would work with Max Modular’s tonneau cover brackets. Thank you!

Looks Good! Would this install with the trail management system? How does it attach?
is this a hard cover or is it a soft cover? could you stand on it?
