Become a paid member by contributing to the forum and then gripe about sponsors who pay to be sponsors so we can have a forum to talk on without having to pay. Even though 5% doesn't seem like a huge discount, I have found that a lot of sponsor will give you a even better price plus the 5% if you contact them and see what the best price is. But a discount is a discount and I appreciate most of the sponsors on this site for what they offer and do. I can deal with a few ads showing up here or there, if you don't like it then it's free to start up your own forum. See how long that last with the amount of time you have to spend on it and then money you have to eventually spend to maintain it. I've try before and it's not a easy process so I say Thank You to all vendors who sponsor this site so I have a place to come and talk with mostly intelligent Gladiator owners.

I guess you can't please everyone!

I recently looked to see if there was a paid membership on this forum to bump me up, was surprised there was not. IH*MUD has a paid membership.

I wouldn't be opposed to it.
a few other forums I belong to have the option of paid membership to supress popup/inline ads, I guess it is worth it to some folks, doesn't really bother me

as far as the sponsor postings, I canvass the board using "new posts" so I simply skip by the sponsor postings in the list unless I was interested in what they're selling

The point could have been made without the labeling.
OK, then ->
>>Ya want everything for free like someone born from 1997 on<<

I was just using the accepted phrase used by businesses consultants, Psychology Today, the media (so-called "news"), Pew Research, and others.
It's the accepted term.
Proof?
Here:
Sources ranging from Merriam-Webster and Oxford to the Urban Dictionary now include this name for the generation that follows Millennials, and Google Trends data show that “Generation Z” is far outpacing other names in people’s searches for information.

And from Pew Research themselves:
But for analytical purposes, we believe 1996 is a meaningful cutoff between Millennials and Gen Z for a number of reasons, including key political, economic and social factors that define the Millennial generation’s formative years.

Another definition from Britannica:
Generation Z, also called Gen Z, zoomers, iGeneration, centennials, post-millennials, or Homelanders, term used to describe Americans born during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The next group is Gen Alpha (since zed is the last letter and one must start over again)

And this here leads to my comment - want it, now and free -

I guess I am a "student of psychology" - like to know what makes people tick, and why.
There's exceptions to EVERY "generation".
My son, a 2000 graduate, born in 1982, once told me (when we were discussing politics, social issues and other stuff) said "Dad, I'm sometimes ashamed to be a member of my generation".
So I'm not suggesting there are "rules" - just pretty obvious trends to the generations. Each shaped by the environment around them. There's no escaping it.

if you don't like it then it's free to start up your own forum.
Before doing that - ask me what's involved and the work necessary, the finances, etc.
Oh, then you'd better by thick-skinned because no matter what you do or how, there will be haters.

Well said.
Gripe about using a free-to-you place and the minor inconveniences that help pay the bills......... how about they just make this subscription-based. You pay $50/month to be a member so they can get rid of ads and sponsors.
I don't have a problem with ad's or sponsors. I have a problem with people selling wheels and tires and other stuff.

I don’t get it. It’s been like that on every message board that I’ve ever been on for the past 20+ years.

You're upset with the people buying and selling things in the Member Marketplace?

It's a Marketplace...what did you think would be going on there? This is, after all, a community of people who share and support each other. Buying/selling is a natural extension of that. Every vehicle forum I've ever been part of, from cars to trucks to boats to RVs, does this. It's a service to us!

Those threads are clearly marked and don't even show up in the "Latest Posts", "Most Viewed", or "Most Posts" summaries up top. So they're very easy to ignore and avoid. I don't go to the Marketplace unless I'm looking for something, and it's never been a problem for me to avoid them when I'm not.

I can't for the life of me see why that would be a big enough problem for you to ask people to stop doing it. Not interested? Don't click. But why ask to remove a service that brings value to the forum, even if it's not immediately applicable to you?

So they shouldn't have a marketplace where you can sell stuff. If you don't like it then don't go to that section of the forum. It's a added perk if you ask me. List and sell your stuff for no charge to people who may actually buy it, sounds like a win win.
