I have my Gladiator at a dealer for warranty work related to the lifter tick. They replaced the passenger side cam and lifters a month ago under warranty. The Jeep still ticks, and they are saying they aren't going to repair the Jeep unless it's customer pay. I got them to admit the real reason is they don't get paid as much under warranty as they do with customer-pay repairs.

This is a very nuanced situation, and I am not publicly sharing all of the details but I am trying to understand the warranty approval process and the levels at which escalation occurs. And then how the escalation occurs, i.e. regional, then corporate?

I hope someone on here has personal knowledge of the process and would be willing to share some details. I am happy to provide the unfiltered story through PM.

Thanks in advance.

Try another dealer - or get @JeepCares involved.
Warranty work ties their hands - limited on troubleshooting, limited on time - they get paid what the book says it will take and not a minute longer. Warranty work is fine if it's simple and straight forward and there's no diagnosis involved or they need work.
Major work seldom pays well.
But keep track of every conversation, write down names, dates, times, keep any emails, and get them to put things in writing. Once you've taken it in for a specific issue - if that issues raises its ugly head again 2 miles after warranty is up..... you've got proof that you reported it before warranty was up and it's still not fixed.
If they fix it and it breaks again later, that may be a different animal.

This is more extreme, and I would save it until nothing else is being done. Consult with a lawyer on the Lemon Laws in your state. If they can't, or won't, fix it then you have a path to getting the truck replaced.

Thanks for the tips.

It seems there are two types of Jeep service centers. Those who have incompetence at the tech and management level and those who have competent techs but incompetent management.

I have used one local dealer (~10 miles away) who did a rear main seal and didn't reinstall the trans correctly; they later performed the steering TSB but only hand-tightened the pitman arm nut.

I tried another dealer to replace the cams/lifters to repair the dreaded ticking and abnormal wear. The ticking didn't go away, and they ultimately said they wouldn't work on it further because they don't make enough $$ on warranty work (specifically diagnostics). They called today and said to come to pick up your Jeep unless you want to pay for the work; we aren't doing any more warranty work.

I'll try again with another dealer but man, am I losing faith in Jeep.

I realize the failure rate of the cams/rockers may be low but it sure seems to be popping up a lot. I hope they get their shit together with this issue.

What is this "tick"?

Every MPFI car i've had has ticks and noises I would have never accepted on a carbureted car
