so I got the "Service Axle Locker System" warning has come on randomly a few times this week. It pops up than disappears. Might be fine for a day or two then it will flash and go away. The locker icon will also pop up and disappear, though the lockers don't seem to engage. This only seemed to happen going from a stop.

Seems like the fix without cracking open the pumpkin, or replacing the whole axle, is the Z-locker OEM thing. I saw the giant thread on the wrangler forum and that seemed to be what folks were doing over there, so I ordered one. Seems like the dealership costs just as much to just sniff in the direction of my truck as it was to buy one.

Just wondering if anyone has any insights on their JT. I saw an older thread on this, but it might've been before the Z-automotive fix because no one mentions it. My JT is going on 4 years and is at about 44k miles. I also have the Tazer mini JL, if that helps.

So I went to check the codes to see which sensor was not working, front or back, and it came back as C1416-13. From what I can tell, that's the front. This is interesting because that's a newer front axle after I had it replaced with an Ultimate Dana 44 about 1.4 years ago.

Sometimes I hate working on my truck. I went to install the bypass and broke the little locking tab on the original connector. And I still couldn't get it off. So now I'm not sure how to pop that piece off to install the connector.

Goes to the dealership next week. :(
I also double checked the codes and now it doesn't show any codes.

I tried using my lockers last weekend and they didn't engage but the light turned on. Once I took it out of 4L and turned off the engine. It reset and the light turned off, etc.

I got the Z-automotive bypass and it didn't work either. Now it says my lockers are engaged but they are not. I put it back in 2H and turned off the engine again, it reset, the locker icon turned off, but it still shows as "locked" even they aren't. Not sure what else to check. Although I still can't remove the sensor plug from the front lockers. ugh!

Buyer beware: Z-automotive doesn't sell their bypass on Amazon regardless of how it looks. I initially bought it off there and it doesn't fit the OEM connector. I contacted Z-automotive and they told me it's a knock-off and they don't have a store on Amazon. So I sent it back and bought direct.

I had the same thing happen last year. It was intermittent then came on solid. Ended up being a plug wasn’t locked in on the bcm for the axle lockers

Got it fixed!

I finally took it to the dealership, and that was a total waste of time. Because it had 3rd party parts, i.e. a Tazer mini, they were afraid to touch it. And said they would have to put everything back to factory, blah, blah, blah. I'm never going back there again.

So I contacted the shop that did the repair work and had replaced the front axle. They said bring it in, so I drove it the hour to get there. A couple hours later and I was driving home with everything working as it should.

What they found was that the wires going to the plug to the front axle were cut. Not sure how it happened, maybe it rubbed on something or snagged on something. So they fixed that hoping that was the problem but nothing changed. So they put in the Z-locker bypass harness on the rear axle, and still nothing changed. So they tried the front axle and everything works. They weren't sure why it would work like that since communication happens through the rear axle first, but it did.

And since the few alerts I got at the beginning, I never got another one in the last few weeks.

I'm just glad it's all working again.

Just about all dealerships are like that and yours was not unique. With few exceptions and especially with anything electrical/electronic, they are setup to troubleshoot "as built".
