So in January I first experienced this...

...and noticed it a few times since. It's better described as a surging while idling downhill in first gear.
I finally had another reason to take it into the dealer today, so I had them take a look at this.
8 hours later I get a call that they found the Vehicle Speed Sensor was showing a fault, and needs replaced.
The rub is the VSS is part of the transmission valve body. They put an overnight rush on the part, but the part is back-ordered.
What concerns me is they set me up with a Grand Cherokee rental, and they booked the rental for 15 days!
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I need the Gladiator for work in 14 days. Guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope the part arrives lickety-split!
And damn, the Cherokee feels ponderous after the JT!
