Snow!

Anyone else get into some snow yet this year? The Jeep is less than two weeks old, still on stock all seasons which may be considered no seasons but it was fun to get out in the snow today. Looking forward to more challenging winter driving, probably deeper stuff. With traction control on relatively flat roads, didn't even need to go into 4 high. For folks out of the North, winter is coming!

Northern half of Polk county had about 7" or so yesterday. Some were saying spots had more. We had a couple of inches here.

We've only had one snowfall so far and it didn't stick to anything. We have more coming this weekend.

About 7-8 inches so far and still snowing in the south Minneapolis metro area.

And we were supposed to have moved to AZ this summer until the Covids happened.

Kids made a snowman already.

This is making me jealous. We've been about 10 degrees above average in Massachusetts this week, no snow in sight sadly

Our normal daytime highs should be about 64 this time of year.
Except for one day this week where it's predicted to hit close to 70, the highs are going to be about 35. That's all but 30 below normal. I should be walking around in short sleeves - instead am wearing a coat.
We've seen the temps drop 30-40 degrees in a single 8 hour day. This may be one of those weeks.

I have to admit I'm looking forward to getting the JT in the snow but it was just shy of 80 degrees here today and I'm picking up my new bike on Friday. I think I can wait for the snow.

So the stock all seasons did well? I would love to hear more details and review of your tires on snow. Can you elaborate on stopping, ice, etc.? I don't like cold weather but I live in the foothills of Western NC. It's not known for snow but it's a place that experiences all four seasons and a bit of snow is always expected.

First I should say I'm one of the minority here who likes the stock Bridgestones, and I have no plans to take them off. They look good, ride great, float on sand, and are built for loads. The one thing I've been wondering about is if I'll need to buy a set of dedicated snow tires.

The thing is that we don't get weekly deep snows. It flurries off and on, and we'll get two or three 5 to 6 inch snows a year on average in my town. However, just up the mountain the snows are much more frequent and deeper. My sales work travel takes me into those mountains and I can easily be caught in an unexpected snow and trying to get home safely. These aren't flat roads, but hills and curves. I would love to know if my stock tires can handle it. They look like they would with the siping and tread pattern and narrower width, but I also know that the rubber composition itself can affect grip on snow and ice.

For a first snowfall, the tires performed without issue. I'll have a better idea of how they work as winter tires once snow has been packed on the streets. My best test for winter driving is once there's snow packed on the roads that isn't getting cleared and some snowfall on top. I'm by no means a tire reviewer but I've driven for almost 20 Minnesota winters and owned everything from a Subaru WRX, FWD Acuras, an F-150, and now a Gladiator.

It's been a high around 80 for the past couple days, great top down weather. If I see snow it won't be until January or February, and maybe once it sticks. Will definitely hoon when it comes though
