Hello all,

I have been looking at doing a quick day trip here and from what I understand it has some really rocky parts that are narrow. My Nighthawk on 33's isn't much of a concern but since my wife is disabled I have to ensure I pack everything I need should the SHTF in any way.

My question is whether or not going full extreme with plugs and sidewall patch kits is really necessary if you're being careful about your speed. I suppose that question answers itself but I am curious whith what experiences you have had. I don't even have a high-lift jack although it's on the list. I bought an Airmoto if I feel the need to air down some. I also have spare solar charging batteries, etc. I'm a boy scout that way.

Curious as to any experiences you have had.

Thank you!

Just be careful on the way up through the BLM "shooting area". When I passed through some morons were shooting ACROSS the trail, across the entire valley. I had to lay on my horn to make them aware I didn't want to be killed. Mount a dune flag.

I was there 2 years ago on stock tires and suspension and it was easy ( Mojave, 33's ), but things obviously could have changed.

Red is where they were setup, arrow was their shooting direction.

Thank you. I have run across idiots like that many times and I just SMH. I'm a certified CRSO and I find it hard not to get out and lecture them but most of them are drinking so I just wave.

Morons. That happened to us one time off of Hodge road near barstow. Some nut with a tripod was quartering us from behind because he was driving a nice car and he wanted to "create distance." I told him to go effing walk the target out farther.

Hey, I have another thread that I started Friday about why it's so dead in the SoCal section of the forum. If you want to have some company to run it, shoot me a PM with details, I'd love to find some new places to run

It was wild - I sat there for a minute in my bright red truck waiting to see if they'd notice me about 100 yards up trail. Nothing. They had absolute tunnel-vision target fixation.

CA escapee here, from Santa Clara up north. (MT since 2019) I have spent a lot of time offroading around SoCal, AZ, NV, Sierras, Inyos, DV. I don't know what it is, but the idiot density between Barstow and Yuma seems to increase as you go southeast, with Joshua Tree NP being a hotspot. (Victorville being a close second.) More stupid there than most any place I have seen. What is it? Sucking in all the fumes in LA or something??

I have done the Geology Road a couple times. Very nice ride. Normal expectations. Have good tires, a good spare, and plenty of water and food just in case. It is not that difficult unless the recent rains have done some damage.
