Nice, good choice on the Ram as it’s a much better choice in a truck and far more comfortable. The gladiator is nice as a secondary vehicle but not a great choice in a primary truck.
Depends on your needs. I've had a Comanche as my primary truck (pulling farm duties) and my Gladiator is now my primary truck. I've come from F250, and Silverado 4x4s and find the JT is a fine replacement. If you need to tow or haul more more frequently then choose the truck based on overall needs.
Mine does so well it's become my daily driver. Easier to park, better mpg, tows what I need to tow (5,000 pounds of car and car hauler) and hauls landscaping block if I don't get stupid and load on an entire pallet of block. I already have over 9,300 miles on it and I've only owned it since last July.

I own a Ram 1500 and a JTR. Love both of them but the RAM is way more comfortable when towing. Mine also happens to have the built-in trailer brake controller, which is great because you don’t have to mess with an external one. You’ll love the RAM!

Enjoy your new ride! I started looking into a power wagon recently since we are expecting a 3rd kid. Damn! The price has gone up a lot... like $15k since 2020.

Well... yeah. Any full-size truck is going to tow better than our mid-size. Apples to oranges.

The OP said he bought the RAM because he wanted to tow a trailer. And I’m saying that I have one that I use for towing, and I also have a JT, and I think he made a good choice considering his future needs. So yeah, I’m aware that this is an apples to oranges situation.

Wasn’t directed at the OP in any way… he clearly stated his reasons for switching. I was just reacting to your statement that your “Ram is way more comfortable when towing” and how that is obvious.

Why do you have to "mess with an external one"??
What's to mess with? Once it's installed, it's just like anything else - it's part of the truck now (although not integrated to the point you can control settings via buttons on your steering wheel)
So you set it - and forget it unless you tow a different trailer or different weight later.
Same as the "built-in" controller. You still need to set it for the weight of the trailer and/or road surfaces (gravel vs. pavement)
I've used your so-called "external" controllers since - well, longer than I can remember - frankly, I see no difference at all. Once it's installed, you never see it except for the knob. Big deal. What's to mess with??
I tow with my JT and once I hook up, load my cars, I set the dial and in less than 100 yards, I'm done and ready. Seconds of my day.
So you suggest with Ram you don't even need to adjust it?
So MOPAR had Tekonsha build them a controller they could integrate into the truck at the factory. You know they never created it themselves.

Admittedly, I don’t use my JT to tow often, so I don’t use a controller with it. However, when I had a Tacoma, I had to mount a Tekonsha and run wiring for it. That’s all, was just extra hassle, and I mounted it in a spot where I bumped it a lot with my knees.

The Ram is nice because you plug the trailer in and it knows it’s there. Yes, you adjust it initially.

Edited to add: “tow often,” not “tow anything.” That’s what I get for posting from my phone. :)

Fair enough. Tough crowd today.
