Sound bar upgrade question 8.4 inch alpine

Ok So I searched and really couldn't find anything. I want to upgrade my speakers to 6.5 with tweeters. I have the amplified Alpine system with the 8.4 inch display. Crutchfield keeps saying that I should use an inline cross over because apparently the system pushed bass through one set of wires and treble though another. If I am adding a tweeter wouldn't I just hook the wires to the small speaker to it or do I still need this cross over. Its been years since I did anything kind of audio and it was straight forward no cross overs.

Because of this confusion I thought about just going with upgraded the 4 inch and 3.5, but research has talked me out of it.

Any help or information would be appreciated.

Which model year do you have? The 2024 is different than previous years. In my 2024 I removed the 3.5 and 4 inch speakers from the sound bar and used 4" mid range and a small dome tweeter.

I used the factory crossover from the Premium Alpine system for the tweeter. If this looks like it will work for you, I made a detailed post about the install here.
