Who has a Sport S/Willys/80th/Freedom with the regular towing package, can you confirm it is only 4500 Trailer Towing?

Why does the Overland have a 6000 Trailer tow numbers and specs are similar?

Are you accidentally looking at the manual transmission in the Sport S?

Nope, it was a 80th and they only come in Automatic.

Manual trans is 4000lbs.

The Willys is a Sport S with the Willys package. I took that to mean it has a 6000lb tow cap with the regular tow package and and auto trans.

The pic below is from this forum (I am still waiting for my Jeep).

Again, that is MY interpretation.

Jeep Gladiator Sport S/Willys/80th with Trailer Towing package? tow
Awesome, I guess Jeep doesn't want to advertise (online) that the Sport S (Tow Package) has a 6000 trailer tow limit.

I had a hard time trying to get an answer from the dealer or Jeep.ca when placing my order. I turned to this forum. I was fine with the 6000lb cap, didn't want to be any lower though. Giving up my F150 for this Jeep.

I have the Willys with the tow package (NOT MAX TOW), so my tow cap is 6000lbs. With out the tow package it's only 4500lbs. And from my understanding the Max Tow wasn't an option for my trim.

So my basic understanding:
All Gladiators w/o a tow package (standard or max) can tow 4000-4500 lbs.
with a standard tow package-6000lbs
Max tow package-7650lbs

Yep. The 6000lb Overland is just a curious marketing choice presumably to coax purchase of that trim over Sport s or Willys. 6k for all automatics with tow package. I thought the same thing when I was initially shopping about Overland.

Nope, it's not "marketing" - that's how they tested out with that equipment. There's so many threads and posts on that very thing it's hard to keep track of them all - apparently they don't get read, though.
The Sport S and Overland have the same gear ratios and same width axles (among other things) so it makes total sense that they'd check out with the same towing capabilities.
Max tow gives a different ratio and slightly wider axles.
Covered in hundreds of posts.
It's not marketing - it's SAE testing among other things.
People who want that trim will purchase that trim regardless of the numbers. The things we wanted were only available with the Overland at the time we bought so that was the choice.
