I'm waiting for a mini to ship. The primary use will be when we are camping. ( Yeah yeah. I know, camping should be disconnected from electronics blah blah) but we will use the camper as intended through out the day, then run our businesses at night or if the weather is bad.
Q1) How well does the mini work while traveling down the highway or back roads? (Assuming a clear line to the sky)
Q2) Any suggestions for a mobile mount to use in the Gladiator while we are mobile? ) ((soft top))
Q3) How about a good stand for when we are parked and actually "camping"?

American Adventure Labs has a molle panel and mount that lets you mount a starlink mini inside against your top. Wonder if that work work on the soft top. That said, ordering from them takes some patience. Their lead times are misleading, but it looks like they are working to make them shorter.

I like that setup, but I wished I could find a molle panel that ONLY goes front to back and without the cutouts for the freedom panel

You might have won the internet! At first I didn't like the open ends, then saw that they sold cutout panels for us soft top people. When I get home I'll look at the measurements of the panel and mini to see if there would fit together. Thank you for the suggestion and link

"We will only use it at night or when the weather is bad" Q1 and Q2 determined that was a lie? It works great when we are at camp or at our remote off grid cabin and either the wife or I need to get some work done. I've never tried using it while driving/ wheeling and therefore have never felt the need to mount it on the Jeep. I'd imagine it would work like Sirius does in remote locations and back roads, fine when there's a clear view of the southern sky and then terrible when there's heavy forest or a mountain on the south side of the road/trail?

Lol, good catch, but driving isn't camping. Still probably a lie since I'm sure it'll get used more than it's intended purpose.

If the jokes get teed up I can't help but take a swing. If having the access allows you to extend time in the woods instead of having to get back to civilization to work, it's a win period. You can bet you're ass once we retire the starlink won't even come on trips, but for now it gains us more time away.

I ordered the mini recently and it came in within 2 weeks from the date I ordered it. Can't help with the mobile fit up. We plan to use it while camping in a stationary setting.

I installed a Starlink Mini in our Gladiator back in April using the AAL Rear Overhead Molle Panel & Mounts. I power it using an Anker Solix C300 DC that I mounted under the rear seat. I connect the Starlink to one of the 100 watt USB-C ports on the C300 using a 10 ft USB-C Starlink Mini Cable that I got on Amazon. I also got the Solix Car Charging Cable and run it to the front Power Port (Cigarette Lighter) to keep the C300 topped off. The Anker app lets me know how much power the Starlink is drawing and the level of the C300 DC.

The Starlink Mini draws 35 to 45 watts at startup and levels out to around 17 to 22 wats once it’s connected to the Satellites. The C300 DC will power it for 10 to 12 hours without the vehicle running. With the Gladiator running the input using the Car Cable is around 95 watts which is more than I expected. It can also be charged by a Solar Panel. With the Starlink running the C300 DC will charge from 40% to full in just a couple of hours of driving.

At the beginning of May we did 2 weeks of remote camping in Northern Arizona & Southern Utah and the Starlink Mini performed almost flawlessly. We used it while driving and it only lost connection when we were on some roads that ran along cliffs. On trails it only lost connection in heavily wooded areas. Connection was no problem in open areas on roads, trails or campsites.

With the AAL Mount I faced the Mini towards the passenger side of the Gladiator. Reception is best when the Mini is facing North, so we tried to park facing West when Camping. This provided the best reception and put the Sun coming up on the back of the RTT which is what we prefer. I used the the Starlink app to have it go into sleep mode late at night and come back on in the morning to help reduce the draw on the C300 DC

Since that was our first outing with the Starlink Mini, we opted for the Roam Unlimited package. Based on our data usage that was the correct choice. Once we got back I was going to pause service, but they offer a 10GB Emergency Service option for $10 a month, so I switched to that for now.

Overall the Starlink Mini has been a great addition for our Overlanding Adventures.

@Tennessee Gobi Thanks for the reply. I've had that Anker in my cart for a couple of weeks now. Guess I'll go ahead and order it. It's been 3 weeks since I ordered the Starlink and it still hasn't shipped. Not going to lie, its frustrating that Starlink has basically ghosted me. I'll order the CROW overhead molle soon, supposedly it fits inside the molle panel. Fingers crossed.

We just set our starlink mini up at the cabin this morning. I'll probably put a pole in to mount it but for now its sitting on a sheet of plywood. Powered by our anker solix 500. So far so good. Seems to work. Once 1 wire up the cabin I'll have a pass through in the wall for the solar panel and an exterior outlet for the starlink. 112MPS according to the app.

Starlink is selling Mini roof and wall mounts now for $10 a piece, great sale. The pieces can be used for custom mounts.
