Mine does this occasionally but only at one gas station in my area.......so I just avoid it now; problem solved.

I have filled up everytime at the same gas station, and always fill up slow. Only difference on the fill up it burped out fuel on was it was down to an 1/8 of a tank instead of a 1/4 tank or more on all past fill ups. Hopefully it does not keep doing it.

Well if it keep happening, might be a problem with you EVAP solenoid or charcoal canister. Emission items should be covered up to 80K miles

Remember, they will not burp everytime. I can go 1 to 2 fill ups with no burping, then a few in a row. Unless I hold the hose and stop it before it tops off.
I went 5000 miles with no issues with fuel burping. Then it started. Same station the whole time and it has started doing it. I even tried different pumps at the same station and listening for it to come up and stop, but it still does it. Guess at the next oil change I will complain about it, not happy about gas running all down the side of my Jeep everytime I have to get fuel. 😡

Same here, no burps for months, then one yesterday. Fuel gauge showed the tank was not full, about 1/16 below full. It is like there is an air pocket in the hose connecting to the tank, a similar sound (glug, burp) and effect of using a gas can without opening the vent.

Remember when you fill modern vehicles with gasoline, there’s an anti evaporation system built it, with items used to prevent fumes from escaping. However if you make a habit to “top off or round up to the next dollar amount”, you risk filling up the system that’s expensive to replace and won’t be covered under warranty! Just maybe go up to the next $.05,, but not any more after the first click if the gauge says full.

I never try to put any more gas in once the pump clicks off.

Rarely have this issue. Maybe it's the stations, or the way mine was built. I just insert the nozzle, let it hang, and take my hand off.
This is how I filled up for the first year
Well I still have the problem with my 23 Overland I bought new.The first year I took it to a Jeep dealer for the problem and they changed the fuel filler hose but the problem still persisted.I took it back to them weeks later stating it was still burping up fuel. When I got the truck back they said the mechanic filled it with gas with no problem. The dealer then gave me a bill for the work plus the bill for the gas.I expected to pay for the gas but was unhappy they charged me for the service. They explained Jeep would not pay for it under warranty because they could not find anything wrong with it.I then called Jeep Cares which was a joke and they said there was nothing they could do about the charge. Jeep Cares is a worthless service and a waste of time to call.Is there anything else that could be done to correct this problem?I dread every time I go for a fill up and this is taking the fun out of driving the Jeep. For the price you pay for a Gladiator,Jeep should have a fix for this and no matter how many times I bring this to a dealer for this problem It should be covered under warranty. This is not only a pain in the ass but it is also dangerous.By the way I have tried numerous gas stations, held the pump handle at every different angle, pumped the gas fast, medium, and slow all with the same results.
i have tried different ways of pumping too and have not found a solution either. For the first year I just hung the hose in set it to the slowest setting and let it go until the pump clicked off and no problem. Now it burps everytime. Can’t understand why it just started doing it after a year ? So aggregating to have gas run down my Jeep every time I get gas.

Update, I took my Overland to another dealer at the end of September and they changed the filler pipe which had been changed at another dealer last year. They told me that didn`t work so they ordered a new fuel tank and they are going to replace it on November 4th. Once I get it back I will post if that stopped the burping back of fuel.

Well I got my truck back from the dealership with the new fuel tank installed and I have filled it twice since then and it has not burped up fuel. I am pumping at a moderate speed but before it would burp up the fuel no matter what speed. On the repair order it states the problem was due to an internal blocked vent.I will keep my fingers crossed the problem is once and for all solved.

Good to hear, hope that is a permanent fix for you. I am going to say something about mine doing that at the next oil change. I just can’t understand why the first 5,000 miles I had it, it never did it at all, and since then it does it every time.

The easiest way an about the only way to do anything to the gas inlet system like that, it to make it a habit to “round up” to the nearest dollar. That can easily overfill the system with gas.

The problem was even if you heard the gas start to come up the filler pipe and released the pump handle immediately it still would overflow.

It seems to happen more often when the fuel gauge, after automatically stopping the nozzle, shows about 2 gallons short of full, +/- 1/8 of a tank short. Gurgling is heard at the filler.

For those with $2 or $3 gas, rounding up might be nearly a half gallon. For us with $5 gas means not event a quart.

A vent or baffle in the tank, preventing air from escaping when fueling, makes sense for the root cause.

Still, the problem is not worth dealing with the dealer, and then not having the truck for a couple weeks.
