I saw the sumo springs bump stops on here and have been really thinking about them, but just cant see how they’d help with my towing.

Then i happened upon these...

https://www.shockwarehouse.com/site...d-Transit-350,-Transit-250,-Transit-150-Front

Just seemed like an interesting idea so i pulled the trigger. Im wondering if theyll end up making me not need the air bags I still have sitting in my garage.

ill report back once they come in (next month :swear:)

unless someone on here knows something I don’t!

@Gren71 did you ever install those?
I'm not @Gren71 but I'll step in and give a reply if that's ok. They didn't fit his aftermarket springs so he sold them to me, they fit stock Mojave springs very nice. Jack up on the frame and let the springs expand some and they can be worked in without too much difficulty. I wasn't using them for towing, I wanted to try them them because I have a Go Fast Camper and gear permanently on/in the Mojave and have saggy butt syndrome. They did stop a tiny bit of sag and stiffen the springs slightly. I ran them for several thousand miles but was always looking for something else. They weren't really made for what wanted to do, and I didn't want air bags. I finally removed them and installed a small spacer, the spacer working good for me, no sag and suspension feels fine. I do like the coil spring incerts and they seem quality that should last years, I would use them again on a different application. They weren't the right thing for my application and I knew it, but I had to give it a shot and see what happens. What does a USPS prepaid priority box big enough to ship them cost? $20-$25 bucks? I don't know. Whatever it is you pay shipping and I'll send them to you if you want them.

Thanks for the reply! I'm hoping they improve the ride quality--I'm dealing with some harsh bumps, can feel every little thing in the road. If you're looking to move on from them, I'll definitely take them! I'll send you a PM.

Ride quality they will slightly stiffen your springs. They will help with a small load or a little roll. I'll be looking for the PM and get back to you.

You could also look at better shocks, yours may be too stiff (or too soft…im definitely not a shock expert) making road “noise” transfer into the truck.

As far as regular sumo springs.
Those things are gold for towing. I even got the set that goes ontop of the trabel trailer’s leaf spring. REALLY made a huge difference in the feel of the road in the camper.

I currently have front/rear sumos in the truck, and a set in the camper.

How does it drive unloaded with the sumos?

I'd be curious how it drives empty with them as well. I put a set on a Tacoma and also a Tundra, and it did noticeably make the ride a bit harsher as they were always in contact, so transferred all sorts of bumps. And I also wonder, you have max tow springs too if I recall? Wonder if that might make them right different than a truck with normal springs.

But they sure were great towing, I'll agree there!!!

The camper?
I suppose the same. We keep most everything in our tt full time so its never really unloaded

the truck?
no change at all because the sumo springs aren’t in constant contact with the rear axle, until they’re under load from the trailer or a full bed.

I do have the max tow springs, and I also have a 2 inch spacer left.

So even with the added length of the sumo spring bump stop itself, combined with a 1 inch bump stop plate on the axle, Mine are only in contact if I hit a really good bump or if it’s under constant load.

I wanted it that way so it didn’t have an effect on my day to day driving, only an effect while I’m towing.

i also have air bags in the rear. The sumos+air bags+max tow springs = a glorious towing experience. Honestly my combo is very likely overkill. But that’s pretty much my m/o haha

Yeah, on both the Tacoma and Tundra, it actually raised the back end around 1/2" and was always in contact.... that was great for towing, and even empty it actually improved handling because there was now basically zero body roll at the rear when going fast turns, but it sucked because you then felt EVERY bump in the road.

For the cost i think its a no brainer lol a relatively inexpensive jeep upgrade compared to %50+ of quadratec’s website haha

I even have the fronts on. NoOoOo clue when/if I’ll ever need them. But they’re there just for funzies
