Because I want to keep stuff locked in the bed under my Diamondback cover. Otherwise someone can smash a window and just press unlock on the door to get in the bed.
Have you tried locking it with a window open, to see if that actually works?

I think the dealer found the problem today. And " Toyfrog" above was also right.
When the spray in bedliner was done a few days earlier and the tailgate was taken off the electrical harness was pulled apart in such a manner that the plastic lock on it broke off. They slid it back in together (without being able to click it in properly) but it shook apart, a couple days later. My brake light on the tailgate wasn't working either (which I didn't even notice, until they pointed it out to me) So a new electrical harness is on order. Will be installed in a couple days.
