Tazer questions

I’m am going to install the factory aux switches in my 20 Rubi. I have also installed the rear bed outlet completely from dash switch to bed outlet (yes truck is equipped with inverter with outlet in rear seat console). My question is, if I use a Tazer mini to allow me to turn on those two accessories does the Tazer have to remain hooked up to allow the aux switches and rear outlet to function. Or will they remain connected with the Tazer removed completely? I know the dealership will charge me to activate the aux switches and if I am lucky put the RPO code in to activate the bed outlet. I know the Tazer mini is cheaper than the dealership BUT I don’t want or need anything other then turning on the functions needed to utilize the two accessories. I don’t want the Tazer hooked to the truck at all. I am not at the least bit tec savvy nor have the patience for installing and un-marrying it if I have to have a dealer check something. Lost my RC recalibrater when I had my steering box replaced $$ down the drain. My fault I know but didn’t think they would reflash, again now I know. Willing to have the dealership do the connection so I don’t have to worry about it, keeping it simple is my motto! But if the Tazer can turn them on and still work with it completely disconnected, then I’d be gamed for the Tazer mini. Any help or information either with the Tazer or going the dealership route would be greatly appreciated. Joel​

Do some research into Jscan and AlfaOBD. Either should take care of what you need. It only needs to be connected long enough to make the changes, and is less expensive than a Tazer.

Yeah, either of those can tell the Jeep that it has the new equipment and enable it. Nothing to leave plugged in or connected once the settings are made.

Not wrong and best advice !!

Coming from a person with a Tazer installed and works at the dealership; I recommend such devices first over the Tazer models.

Unless you want specific ease of use features; Tazer it is, but what you are asking for gets covered on both those devices suggested.

I used Tazer after I installed the auxiliary switches.

It worked fine but then I started to have a problem. When I leave all the switches set to Ignition mode and drive for a few hours, the auxiliary switches will turn off. If I turn them on, they will stay on for about 15 seconds and then turn off.

if I leave the truck sit for a few hours, the switches work again but after driving they will turn off.

if I setup the switches in Battery mode, they will stay on.

I suspect there is some software that is turning this off. Don’t know if this is an issue with the programming using Tazer or something else.

I leave my Tazer plugged in all the time with no other issues. I enabled the PIN code as extra security and enable the hood switch to activate the alarm.

The light show is also entertaining ?

I “unmarry” the Tazer when I bring my truck in for service just in case they do an update.

Just my opinion after using the Tazer for a number of things if you can find an option that is simpler and does not require all the marrying/unmarrying and 100 steering wheel inputs go that route. The Tazer though can allow you to do many, many things. So if your just looking for one or two simple things go another route if your think you will want to change a lot of settings then the Tazer might be your thing.
