Yes, yes, I know my motor may be a dodo bird. But that aside see if you can help me sort this out, or atbleast let it be a warning to you.

Today my serpintine belt broke. At 96,426 miles, not really unexpected, especially with many thousands of off-road miles in CO, UT, and NM. Even had a new belt that I had bought a few months ago to put in, just hadn't made time. I've had the truck since it was new in Oct of 2019, its a JTR manual.

I had left the truck running while I went in to grab lunch to-go so the dog could stay cool in the AC. Came back out 10-15 mins later and my truck was overheating. 😬 I know. Not good. Got her towed home, put in the new belt. Not a horrible install but took longer than I wanted it to.

Started the truck after plugging alll the sensores back in. But still a check engine light, fan run immediately to highest possible speed, and temp guage only shows --F on the cluster. Cleared codes with my procal snap, i have an early one and cant see codes, unless 34706010AC is a code, but I couldnt find anything on it. Tried clearing a couple times, Same thing on restart, check engine light, fan on high, and no temperature reading.

I did notice that my throttle body was a bit oily. Yea yea... the end may be near.

Yes I'll get the codes read tomorrow and update with those.

Anyone got an idea for me?

Might take a look at the coolant temp sensor where it's installed in the thermostat housing to see if there's anything obviously wrong with it or its wiring/connector.

If there's an air pocket, the sensor can not read the coolant temperature. I have had this happen on my UTV two different times.

Will check the sensor tonight, and I don't think there is an airpocket as I didn't get an overflow. Which is also concerning, as that means there could be low fluid which may mean there is a leak somwhere. I am sooo excited to find out. Lol.

So I cant get past the codes becuase they can only be cleared by a silly jeep authorized code reader/subscription. Will update once Ive gotten past that firewall.

You have to use a bypass cable to get past the Security Gateway to clear the codes. Otherwise, the OBD port is read only.

Use the extension cable to extend the Security Gateway ports down below the dash. This way, you only have to tear up your hand once.

One like this:

This will save the skin on your fingers:

I know that, I happened to be on Summit site earlier and seen they posted having 16 of them. It's definitely a sticker shock.... $16k and some change. :like:
Otherwise I was joking around as you could figure out, some can't.
