Well, updating this a bit:
December 1 - Third surgery to fix scalp incision that wouldn't close up and heal. Got a phone call from the vet about Pickle that same day. So I went into that surgery with the thought of losing him on my mind.
That is finally healed up. So all wounds are healed.
However - dealing with pretty bad side effects. I looked at the government web site - NIH or whatever, and wow, found out it's a side effect of DBS in about half with ET - extreme fatigue, weakness, interrupted sleep cycles.
I woke up today feeling like I'd been away for 36 hours - about to fall over.
So tomorrow, I call the doc and see what can be done.
I've been through 2 "adjustments" visits already.
