Either one of those things would certainly throw a DTC, especially the TCM, these are ULTRA sensitive to transmission issues, the TCM will pick up on an internal issue and throw a code for it long before any human will feel an issue. Saw this all the time on early 850RE when I was in the dealership. They would throw a code for "Gear Ratio 3" error, with a CEL. But no drivability concerns. We would pull the valve body and do the air test and sure enough that particular drum would fail and we would catch the issue long before the customer even noticed.
I really hope the OP responds with more details, but it doesn't surprise me the dealer checked for codes and gave it right back,
