Since this a non-Wrangler related area, I thought I would post something non-Wrangler related. What are your impressions of the new Titan XD and 5.0L Cummins diesel? Any thoughts on it? I'm part of their forum but would like to hear some info from the non-kool aid drinkers!

It's solid. A co-worker got one after swapping in his old frontier. Like the Tundra refresh of over a decsde ago, it takes Nissan from an outlier to being a contender again.

The engine is the great, it is too bad they shelved the next gen 4cyl Cummins that was suppposed to come to Nissan at the same time for them and Toy, that rngine would've fit a lot of power holes. The 4cyl refresh of 2 years ago can't even compete with the old Liberty CRD let alone the new GM or VM updates.

My ski bussy's wife wants a new Armada to replace her 'old' one which is only a couple of years old, he'd be far more receptive of an update if they were offered with the Cummins instead of just the aging gasoline 8.

I had a 1st gen Titan that I used to pull a smaller camper with. Once the wife and I had our 1st kid we decided to sell the camper and then the truck in anticipation of upgrading to a 5th wheel and a truck suited for the job. Now we have two kids and the oldest will be 4 soon. I've been looking at trucks and have been quite interested in the XD as it's duty would be pretty close to a perfect match for me and considering its current pricing, made it quite tempting. But leave it up to the wife to throw a wrench in the plans... I sold my old CJ last fall and I guess she just never got over it. So now she wants a jeep and will make due with a pop-up, LOL. It's ok though, because I miss my CJ too, but I don't miss the cold natured carb, or the no air conditioning (in the Deep South). Hell, riding naked in an Alabama summer day is still like being cooked in a convection oven. Sure there's a breeze, but you're still cooking! So, that's why I'm here now. I'm looking forward to a modern jeep that the whole family can enjoy. Anyway, guess the XD and 5th are put off for a few more years till the wife decides that she wants something bigger again.

Has you friends XD had any problems? The forum is full of either fan boys who would never dare tell you about any problem/imperfection or people that want to rain death and destruction on everything XD. Would be nice to hear a bit of unbiased feedback.

I'll check with him via email. Last time we chatted about our 'trucks' (trying to set up a meet when I drive out east next month) he seemed pretty happy with it.
Though if people ask me, I never mention the Wrangler's F'in rear drefroster cable that I've had to have repalced 5 times (requires replacement of entire rear window) and fixed twice all under warranty in 2 JKUs and 1 JK, because most people won't be opening their rear every other day in -30 like me. So there may be some hidden small issues like that for him too, if ther is anything I'll post a follow-up in the next few days.
