So I had a tire pressure sensor fail on my JT. It was on the right rear at the time and was not registering pressure, triggering a ¨Service TPMS¨ message. I took it to get the tires rotated and balanced @Discount Tire. They changed it and rotated the tire/wheel to the right front. Unfortunately, it is still not registering. I took it back today and they scanned it and found it was transmitting and they went through the activation procedure again. I drove 30 minutes home on the highway and it still is not registering.
I know it is not the sensor because it has shown zip in two different locations and when it was rotated to the spare, all 4 wheel positions were registering.
So maybe there is a compatibility issue? They did say the original, which was not registering, showed a good battery. I am not sure if they checked if it was transmitting or if they could even do that.
So I´m stumped at this point. The only things I can think of are that it either the new one is defective, or maybe it is not compatible. Because the sensors pick up the other tires at all 4 positions, I think that rules out a problem on the receiver end.
So I´m wondering if I should have them replace it to see if it is a bad unit, or if I should buy a Mopar OEM sensor and have them install it.
Has anyone else had a similar issue, and if so, what was the solution?
Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated.
