Trailer Ideas

Just wondering if anyone is using the Schutt brand trailers. More specifically their military cargo trailers. I understand you can pick them up online via liquidation websites. Most come with 37" mud terrains. Some you can find covered. The only drawback I can see is their weight, 1400lbs. Obviously there are plenty of other brands out there with less weight. Just kicking around the idea!

A few years back I thought about getting one, advantages of one is built to last would make a hell of a Off Road trailer as it is. Now the down side tires, rim and size of them beside weight. Mil. Hummer tires and rims are expensive at times and many available are recall tires and really dangerous... Yes I do have first hand experience with this. (Some of my former soldiers was really messed up when the tires blown out while traveling down a highway near Ft. Bliss, TX.) The Army fielded a "over stock" of them then issued out to take them back and sell off. For short time almost every MP platoon had 4 or 5 each. Then most set unused or abused and left. But knowing that I would still like to have one. Great ground clearance due to axle set up no axle tube to snag up on one version I know of. "Portal axle" I about skipped this thread not seeing the mil NSN name. ?

Hey thanks for the feedback. One reason I've never picked up one of these is the logistics of delivery to my state. Just now in the market for one. I probably am better off just rigging my own trailer with heavy duty axles and finding one locally. I need something flexible for double duty hunting-camping-house flipping. Thanks!

If you can't inspect it you be rolling the dice on what you get. One probably be ideal for a lot of your use none the less. My MJ bed trailer I made that got stolen I started with a 1 ton axle that failed on me then I made the replacement with 2×2× 1/4 square tubing.
