Tray back anyone?

So one of the things that I've been very interested in with the Gladiator is the oppertunity to fit a flat bed/deck or tray back as the aussies call them. A good way to clean up departure angle and haul more stuff. Having owned a ram with a U-body I can attest to the handiness of a big flat space and some big bin boxes.

US vendors should get on this in addition to structural bed caps because Discos and Land Cruisers have proven it works and can work real well.

yep thats what ill be doing tubs just get beat up when you load them with a bobcat & need to carry pallets so they need to be loaded with a forklift & can improve departure angle & build myself a slide on camper

You mean like when you go to the big box store to pick up two dozen sheets of plywood or a half skid of CMU and they insist on loading you with a hi-lo?

Now the question is do you order the Cargo Management Group with Trail Rail System package that includes the LED lights in the bed and 115v/400w outlet and mount those items on the tray bed somewhere or is it better to leave that package off and have an easier install of the tray bed?

Weeelllll...

The 400w 115v outlet is duplexed off the cab outlet so it’s 400w in the cab or 400w in the bed or a combination that equals 400w. For the cost of the options to add that outlet you could buy a very serious inverter and have mucho power anywhere you need it.

As for the trail rail, it’s just a jeepified version of existing lashing systems, you could buy your own and make what ever you needed, logistical track systems come to mind.

4000lb ultimate failure with a 1000lb working load per clip means you’d be very hard pressed to over load the lashing systems before overloading the plated limit of the truck.

Track the bed walls, bed floor and tail gate and you’ll be set up to haul nearly anything that can fit.

It all depends on what your indented finishes product is, you could build a three way dump body with drop/pivot sides and have a handy little working machine or camper shell that sits where the wheel arch is and lose no floor space to tires and with an Alaskan pop up design be very comfortable.

Myself I wouldn’t mine a drop side flat deck with a bumper to bumper rack to fit all the family and all the gear at the same time.
