I thought I knew what heat and humidity was growing up on Long Island. I thought I knew what heat was, hell, when it go to 98* they issued all these warning to mind your elders and such. No one had A/C. summers could be in the high 80's all summer long. Brutal.

I was all sorts of wrong.

June, 1979 - a young 18 yr old me stepped off the bus at Parris Island, South Carolina. My first time below the Mason-Dixon line.

Felt like I was swimming underwater on dry land. First time in my life I felt air, it was that humid. So damn hot I could actually feel my skin burning. What took half a day on L.I. took 30 minutes here. I got burnt so often and so bad I had to go to Sick Bay for sun poisoning. I didn't even know that was a thing. My sunburn on my ears and top of my now-bald head blistered, scabbed over and sand fleas started eating the scabs, little buggers like dried blood. I could hear the fleas eating it got so bad. Almost drove me mad.

I ran every day for 3 months before I left for boot so I would be ready. I should've spent that time drinking beer with my friends. That heat and humidity kicked my butt so hard I was wheezing like a 4 pack a day smoker.

I learned what heat and humidity was.

At the range I learned what a fire ant was. Never heard of one. Lit me up around my waistband while laying prone.

I told my rack mate, a Southern boy from N.C., "I think when God drank he made a bunch of foul, vile bugs for giggles. St. Peter asked him where to put them. Drunken God laughs and says, "South of the Mason-Dixon Line". My rack mate said, "That ain't no lie.".

I went with it to extend camping season. Plus if get a some type of camping canopy I can put it in there as well. For the wife not to bitch it’s to hot is worth millions lol.
This is exactly why I’d get one too. Ground cabin tent for more family oriented camping trips. Most of the time it’s just me and a swag. That AC would probably turn that into a popsicle.

One guess what I just "Add to Cart" ??

Yep. My wife is sitting there doing her crafts on her Cricut Maker that I've spoken of already. She's going through "the change" so heat is an issue. She turned on a fan, but that blows all her stuff everywhere. I said I could crank the house A/C down, she asked, "Do they make a small unit I can put right here to cool me down ?". Rut-roh, here's my chance. Do I capitalize ? Yes I do, I have no pride.

"On my Jeep web site there is a member that bought this Eco-Flow portable A/C unit. We can also use it for camping. But it's not cheap." "How much is "not cheap" ?" "850 bucks. $1,499 if you want a battery." "With all the solar generators we already own, why would we need a battery ? Does it plug in the wall ?" "Yes." "I can't do my crafts without power, so no on the battery. How much ?" "850" "Order it. I just got a $2,000 dollar bonus at work and this is what I want." "You sure ? It's not exactly cheap." "Yes, order it.".

I turn to go to my laptop upstairs and stop in my tracks. "Wait. You got a 2k bonus ? Were you ever going to let me know ?" "Oh please, I told you." "You told me a a 1k bonus." "Oh, I was wrong. 2k".

Sure.......
