22 Diesel Gladiator with 1955 miles on it...
So I swapped in new 3.5 inch speakers to the dash and the sound bar after reading everyone having great results doing so. Tested all the polarity and everything was working great on my 1 hour test/sound drive. Left the Jeep sitting for two days and jumped back in and the Uconnect wouldn't start. No splash "Jeep" screen or anything. No soft/Hard reboot would work. power button no response. Display off button didn't do anything. HVAC still works but nothing displayed on the screen at all. I tried pulling the J97 radio/tbm 20 amp fuse several times. Nothing. I then reinstalled the stock speakers and checked for any shorts or screws that may have damaged the wires and all the same symptoms persist. If I pull the J97 fuse and reinstall and run around to the cab quickly I can see the splash screen try and start up but it just goes dark after the "Jeep" splash and never gets to Uconnect screen but can hear some speaker crackle when it is splashing.... Then nothing.
After another day of it sitting there I realized that the screen of the Uconnect was hot with nothing on in the Jeep at all. Checked it with an infrared gun and it was 100.4 degrees! Something is definitely shorting out or just stuck in a perpetual boot up.
I did unmarry my Tazer to see if that was part of the issue. Didn't solve it so I remarried and reset my settings.
So next step is to the dealer. But... I am trying to figure out if I pull my Tazer out or unmarry. I have 37's and have converted all of the lights to factory LED. If I unmarry all of the LED settings will default which would be bad for all of the lighting.... leaning towards pulling the Tazer out but not unmarrying it.
I am still baffled as I don't think swapping the speakers had anything to do with this head unit going out. I know what I'm doing with that type of work. Crazy coincidence or just bad luck
Any suggestions before my appointment on Thursday?
