Sema. The biggest automotive aftermarket show on the planet. The place to show off your goods and represent the latest and greatest. I've attended the show for over 20 years now, displayed a Subaru BRZ back in 2013 and now, just displayed again with the Gladiator for Bestop, (and our Bronco for Orafol). What an honor and experience! It's not as easy as you would think, as the spots are crazy expensive, getting the vehicle there and back (if you're not local) and the preperation, cleaning, and mental exhaustion of SEMA week is like nothing else. However, it's still amazing to do, and I would do it again.
While my small business is not exhibiting at SEMA, I do proudly reperesent many businesses that are exhibititors, and that's where the our Gladiator fit in, representing Bestop with a few simple items.
The new Header Extended Safari Cable Style Bikini Top, EZ-Fold Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover and a set of Bestop floor mats. I had never seen this Bikini top in this style before, but liked the way it is designed to use the soft top door rails, and since I run a soft top, this was perfect. I and felt it best to install in Las Vegas, as it leaves the rear open to the elements and I was transporting to Vegas on an open trailer. Install was about 30-45 minutes, just as the instructions said. The rear attachements points were a little tricky to get situated, but once done, it worked. I drove directly to SEMA for the roll-in on Sunday, got situated and never moved the vehicle again untli Friday afternoon. Saturday I drove out about 30 minutes south for a photo shoot and really tested the endurance of the top. I will say, once it sat in the sun, It will need to be tightened again. I had a bit of droop when sitting and it bubbled on the freeway at speed. My guess is adjustements will be necessary. I didn't mess with it as I had to re-install soft top (4 bolts) for the return trip to Houston. I am excited to use this out on the trail, or beach, or whatever, as long as you know there is no rain the forecast.
The other product was the soft tonneau cover, pretty basic, and incredibly easy to install. Was a great option for the show as I needed a place to store stuff during the show, and hard to to with an open vehicle. We did use thier cab cover during non-show hours.
Anyway, wanted to share some pictures and give a shout-out to thsoe who recognized me, tagged me and took the time to stop and chat for a bit. Thank you and to those who helped me along the way there.
